༄༅། །བརྟན་བཞུགས་འཆི་མེད་གྲུབ་པ་བཞུགས། །

The Attainment of Immortality

A Long Life Prayer for Sogyal Rinpoche

ཨོཾ་སྭ་སྟི། མི་མཇེད་སྟོན་པ་ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་དང་། །

om svasti mijé tönpa tubpé wangpo dang

Lord of Sages, teacher in this world of sorrow,

འཆི་མེད་ཚེ་མཐའ་ཡས་པ་རྣམ་པ་གསུམ། །

chimé tsé tayepa nampa sum

The three deities of immortality and limitless life,

སངས་རྒྱས་གཉིས་པ་པདྨ་ཀཱ་ར་སོགས། །

sangye nyipa pema kara sok

Padmākara, the second Buddha—

ཚེ་ཡི་ལྷ་ཚོགས་རྣམས་ཀྱི་དགེ་ལེགས་སྩོལ། །

tsé yi lhatsok nam kyi gelek tsol

May all the deities of long life grant all that is excellent and good!

ཨོ་རྒྱན་པདྨའི་བོད་ཀྱི་ཐོག་མའི་འབངས། །

orgyen pemé bö kyi tokmé bang

Among the Tibetan disciples of Padmākara of Orgyen

རྡོ་རྗེ་བདུད་འཇོམས་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྒྱུ་མའི་སྐུ། །

dorje düjom yeshe gyumé ku

The foremost was Dorje Dudjom. The magical embodiment of his wisdom,

རྒོད་ཀྱི་ལྡེམས་ཕྲུ་བསམ་བཞིན་སྲིད་པ་ཅན། །

gö kyi dem tru samshyin sipachen

Who also took rebirth consciously as Rigdzin Gödem,

གཏེར་སྟོན་ལས་རབ་གླིང་པས་དུས་ཀུན་སྐྱོངས། །

tertön lerab lingpé dü kün kyong

Was the treasure revealer Lerab Lingpa: may he protect us at all times!

གང་དེའི་སྤྲུལ་པ་ལས་སད་མོས་སྣང་ངོར། །

gang dé trulpa lé semö nang ngor

In the perceptions of those of us who have devotion, and whose karmic connections have awakened, this emanation of Lerab Lingpa

ཆུ་སྣོད་དུ་མར་ཟླ་བའི་གཟུགས་བརྙན་བཞིན། །

chunö dumar dawé zuknyen shyin

Appears, just as the moon reflects in countless vessels of water.

མཐའ་འཁོབ་གདུལ་ཕྱིར་པདྨའི་ཕོ་ཉ་མཁན། །

takhob dul chir pemé ponya khen

The emissary of Padmākara, he has come to guide those in distant lands,

༧ཞབས་ཟུང་མི་འགྱུར་རྟག་ཏུ་བཞུགས་གསོལ་འདེབས། །

shyabzung mingyur taktu shyuk soldeb

I pray that his life is firm and strong—that he remain with us always and forever!

སྐལ་ལྡན་གདུལ་བྱར་སྣང་བའི་བསོ༵ད་ནམ༵ས་གཟུགས། །

kalden duljar nangwé sönam zuk

His form is an expression of the merit of us fortunate ones whom he is to guide

རྒྱལ༵་བསྟན་སྤྱི་དང་སྔ་འགྱུར་བསྟན་འཛིན་གང༌། །

gyalten chi dang ngagyur tendzin gang

He upholds the teachings of the victorious buddhas in general, and those of the early translation school in particular,

མཚ༵ན་རྫོགས་སྣང་བརྙན་མི་མཐུན་མེད་པའི་སྐུ། །

tsen dzok nangnyen mitün mepé ku

His form is entirely pleasing, a magical display of all marvellous signs.

འཕོ་མེད་མི་ཤིགས་རྟག་བརྟན༌འཚོ་གཞེས་གསོལ། །

pomé mishik takten tsoshyé sol

I pray that he live forever, in the unchanging, indestructible sphere of being!

བསོ༵ད་ནམ༵ས་བྱེ་བས་བསྐྲུན་ལས་ཚངས་པའི་དབྱངས། །

sönam jewé trün lé tsangpé yang

His speech, born of his million-fold merit,

༧སྙན་འཇེབས་ཐོག་མཐའ་བར་དུ་དགེ་བའི་གཏམས། །

nyenjeb tokta bardu gewé tam

Is the melodious utterance that is good in the beginning, middle and end,

རྒྱལ༵་བའི་གསུང་རབ་ཐེག་མཆོག་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྒྲ། །

gyalwé sungrab tek chok chö kyi dra

I pray that he live long, in order to proclaim unceasingly and meaningfully,

འགགས་མེད་མཚ༵ན་ལྡན་སྒྲོགས་ཕྱིར་༧ཞབས་བརྟན་གསོལ། །

gakmé tsenden drok chir shyabten sol

The sound of the Dharma of the Supreme Vehicle, the excellent speech of the buddhas!

སྤྲོས་པ་ཀུན་བྲལ་ཟག་མེད་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི། །

tröpa kündral zakmé yeshe kyi

Free from ordinary concepts, his inexhaustible wisdom

ཏིང་འཛིན་མི་གཡོ་འོད་གསལ་གཉུག་མའི་གཤིས། །

tingdzin miyo ösal nyukmé shi

Is the unwavering samādhi of clear light—the genuine and unconditioned nature of being.

དབྱིངས་རིག་ཟུང་འཇུག་མཁའ་ཁྱབ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཐུགས། །

yingrik zungjuk khakhyab dorje tuk

His vajra mind is the unity of space and rigpa, pervading everywhere.

རྟག་པ་རྒྱུན་གྱི་འཁོར་ལོར་འཚོ་གཞེས་གསོལ། །

takpa gyün gyi khorlor tsoshyé sol

I pray that he live long, in continuous and everlasting stability!

གང་གི་བཞེད་པ་ཉི་གཞོན་གསར་པ་ཡིས། །

gang gi shyepa nyishyön sarpa yi

His enlightened intent, like the newly risen sun,

གང་གདུལ་བསྟན་འགྲོའི་པདྨོའི་ཚལ་ཡངས་པོ། །

gang dul ten drö pemö tsal yangpo

Shines on the lotus grove of the teachings and the beings to be nurtured.

ཀུན་ཏུ་བཞད་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་མཁའ་ཁྱབ་ཀྱི། །

küntu shyepé trinlé khakhyab kyi

May this serve as the cause for us all to enjoy the splendid banquet

དགའ་སྟོན་དཔལ་ལ་སྤྱོད་པའི་རྒྱུར་གྱུར་ཅིག །

gatön pal la chöpé gyur gyur chik

Of his enlightened activity, which shines everywhere, throughout the reaches of space!

དེ་ལྟར་གསོལ་བཏབ་སྨོན་པའི་རེ་འབྲས་གང༌། །

detar soltab mönpé ré dré gang

With this prayer of ours, may everything which we aspire and hope for,

ཆོས་ཅན་ཆོས་ཉིད་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་བདེན་མཐུ་དང༌། །

chöchen chönyi tendrel den tu dang

Through the power of truth of the interdependence of phenomena and their true nature,

ཡེ་ཤེས་སྤྱན་ལྡན་སྲུང་མའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཀྱིས། །

yeshe chenden sungmé trinlé kyi

And through the activity of the guardian deities, endowed with the eye of wisdom,

ཡོངས་སུ་འགྲུབ་པའི་བཀྲ་ཤིས་དཔལ་དུ་ཤོག །

yongsu drubpé tashi pal du shok

Be completely accomplished, amid all splendour and auspiciousness!

ཅེས་ནུབ་ཕྱོགས་པདྨའི་རིང་ལུགས་འཛིན་པ་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་བསོད་རྒྱལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མཆོག་ལ་བརྟན་བཞུགས་ཟབ་ཅིང་རྒྱས་པ་ཞིག་འབྲི་དགོས་ཞེས་གང་གི་སློབ་འབངས་ཐུབ་བསྟན་མདོ་སྔགས་ཆོས་གླིང་དུ་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ཉེས་སེལ་གྱི་སྒྲུབ་མཆོད་དུ་བཞུད་པའི་ཨ་ནེ་དམ་ཆོས་ཀྱིས་གཙོས་རིག་པ་ཆོས་ཚོགས་ཐུན་མོང་ནས་ལྷ་རྫས་ཉི་བདེ་མ་སྲིད་དུ་རིང་བ་རིགས་ལྔའི་མདོག་ལྡན་སོགས་ཀྱི་རྟེན་བཅས་བསྐུལ་མ་ནན་ཆགས་སུ་གནང་ངོར་ཕྱི་ལོ་ ༢༠༠༥ ཤིང་བྱ་ཟླ་ ༩ ཚེས་ ༥ ཉིན་ཤཱཀྱའི་དགེ་སྦྱོང་ངག་དབང་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་སུ་འབོད་པས་བྲིས་པ་ཛ་ཡནྟུ།། །།
