Lamp Aspiration Prayer

༄༅། །ཚོགས་མཆོད་བྱིན་རླབས་ཆར་འབེབས་ལས་མར་མེ་སྨོན་ལམ་བཞུགས། །

Lamp Aspiration Prayer (from the Tsok Offering 'A Rain of Blessings')

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་སཏྭ་སོགས་ཡིག་བརྒྱ་བརྗོད། །རྗེས་སུ་མཆེད་ལྕམ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་མར་མེ་ཐོགས་སྨོན་ལམ་འདི་མགྲིན་གཅིག་ཏུ་བཏབ་བོ། །

Recite the hundred-syllable mantra, oṃ vajra sattva... etc. Then the assembled vajra brothers and sisters should hold lamps and recite the following with a single voice:

ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།

om ah hung

Oṃ āḥ hūṃ

བདེ་ཆེན་བདེ་བའི་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་དམ་པ་འདི། །

dechen dewé kyilkhor dampa di

In this joyous and sacred maṇḍala of great bliss,

བདག་སོགས་སྔོ་སྨོན་བཟང་པོས་ལས་འབྲེལ་བའི། །

dak sok ngo mön zangpö lé drelwé

We are all connected through noble aspirations from the past,

རྡོ་རྗེ་མཆེད་ལྕམ་འདིར་ཚོགས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱིས། །

dorje ché cham dir tsok tamché kyi

As vajra brothers and sisters, all gathered for the feast,

དངོས་འབྱོར་མཆོད་སྤྲིན་བཟང་པོ་ལེགས་བཤམས་ཤིང༌། །

ngö jor chö trin zangpo lek sham shing

With gifts, perfectly arranged as offering clouds,

ལྷག་བསམ་མོས་བློས་རྒྱ་ཆེར་སྤེལ་བྱས་ནས། །

lhak sam mö lö gya cher pel ché né

Multiplied and made vast through positive intent and imagination,

བསོད་ནམས་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཚོགས་ཆེན་རབ་བསགས་ཏེ། །

sönam yeshe tsok chen rab sak té

To gather perfectly vast stores of merit and wisdom.

སྨོན་ལམ་འདི་མཐུས་མ་འོང་ཕྱི་མའི་དུས། །

mönlam di tü ma ong chimé dü

Through the power of this aspiration, when, in the future,

བར་དོའི་འཁྲུལ་སྣང་བསམ་འདས་མཐོང་བའི་ཚེ། །

bardö trul nang sam dé tongwé tsé

We see the delusory appearances of the bardo, beyond imagining,

དབྱིངས་རིག་འོད་གསལ་མ་བུ་ངོ་འཕྲོད་ནས། །

ying rik ösel ma bu ngo trö né

May mother and child luminosities of space and awareness unite,

དངངས་སྐྲག་འཇིགས་པ་བྲལ་བའི་འོད་ལམ་ལ། །

ngang trak jikpa dralwé ö lam la

And on the path of light with its terrifying sights and sounds,

བཅོམ་ལྡན་འོད་དཔག་མེད་ཀྱིས་མདུན་ནས་བསུས། །

chomden ö pak mé kyi dün né sü

May the Buddha Amitābha, “Boundless Light”, lead the way,

བྱང་སེམས་འཁོར་ཚོགས་རྒྱ་མཚོས་རྒྱབ་ནས་སྐྱོར། །

chang sem khor tsok gyatsö gyab né kyor

As a vast retinue of bodhisattvas support us from behind.

འཇིགས་རུང་འཁོར་བའི་གཡང་ས་ལས་གྲོལ་ནས། །

jik rung khorwé yang sa lam drol né

Then, saved from saṃsāra's terrible abyss,

བདེ་ཆེན་པདྨོ་བཀོད་པའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་སུ། །

dechen pémo köpé zhing kham su

May we be reborn in the heart of a lotus flower,

པདྨའི་སྙིང་པོར་འཁྲུངས་ཤིང་སངས་རྒྱས་མཇལ། །

pémé nyingpor trung shing sangyé jel

In the blissful land of Lotus Array, there to meet the buddhas,

དམ་པའི་ཆོས་ཐོབ་ས་ལམ་མཐར་ཕྱིན་ནས། །

dampé chö tob sa lam tar chin né

Receive the sacred Dharma, and complete the paths and stages.

རྫོགས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཐོབ་མཁའ་མཉམ་སེམས་ཅན་ཀུན། །

dzok sangyé tob kha nyam sem chen kün

Once perfectly awakened, may we become great guides,

རིང་མིན་བདེ་ནས་བདེ་བར་འགོད་ནུས་པའི། །

ring min dé né dewar gö nüpé

Capable of leading all beings, as infinite as space,

དེད་དཔོན་ཆེན་པོར་བདག་ཉིད་འགྱུར་བར་ཤོག །

depön chenpor daknyi gyurwar shok

Swiftly, from one blissful state to another.

ཤེས་རབ་ཡེ་ཤེས་གསལ་བའི་སྒྲོན་མེ་འདིས། །

sherab yeshe salwé drönmé di

May this lamp of discerning and primordial wisdom

ལས་ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་གཉིས་མུན་པ་རབ་གསལ་ཞིང༌། །

lé nyön drip nyi münpa rab sel zhing

Banish entirely the darkness of karmic and emotional veils,

ཡང་དག་ལམ་གྱི་སྣང་བ་ཆེར་རྒྱས་ནས། །

yang dak lam gyi nangwa cher gyé né

Greatly enhance the light of the pure, authentic path,

གཏན་བདེའི་རྒྱལ་སར་འགོད་པའི་སྒྲོན་མེར་ཤོག །

ten dé gyalsar göpé drönmer shok

And illuminate the way to the kingdom of everlasting bliss.

ཅེས་སྨོན་ལམ་བཏབ་ནས་མར་མེ་རྣམས་མཆོད་ཡུལ་གྱི་མདུན་དུ་འབུལ་བར་བྱའོ། །

When you have made this prayer of aspiration, offer the lamp to the recipients in front.

ཞེས་༧ཀརྨ་པ་བཅུ་བཞི་པས་འོག་མིན་མཚུར་ཕུའི་གདན་ས་ཆེན་པོར་སྦྱར་བའོ།།
