Prayer to the Namo Buddha Stūpa

༄༅། །སྟག་མོ་ལུས་སྦྱིན་མཆོད་སྡོང་ལ་གསོལ་སྨོན་བཞུགས་སོ། །

Prayer of Aspiration to the Stūpa “Bodily Sacrifice to the Tigress”

ན་མོ། ཕྱོགས་བཅུ་དུས་བཞིའི་རྒྱལ་བ་སྲས་བཅས་དང་། །

namo chok chu dü zhi gyalwa sé ché dang

Namo! Before all you victorious ones and your heirs throughout the whole of space and time,

སྟོན་པ་མཉམ་མེད་ཤཱཀྱའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཡི། །

tönpa nyam mé shakyé gyalpo yi

Including our own incomparable teacher, king of the Śākyas,

ཞབས་རྡུལ་སྤྱི་བོའི་རྒྱན་དུ་མཆོད་བྱས་ནས། །

zhap dül chiwö gyen du chö ché né

I bow down, presenting my crown-ornament to the dust at your feet—

གསོལ་འདེབས་སྨོན་པའི་གནས་འདི་འགྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །

soldep mönpé né di drubpar dzö

May these, my prayers of aspiration, be fulfilled!

སྔོན་ཚེ་ཐུབ་དབང་བྱང་སེམས་སྙིང་སྟོབས་ཆེ། །

ngön tsé tubwang chang sem nying tob ché

In the past, when the Lord of Sages was the bodhisattva Mahāsattva,

གྱུར་ཚེ་སྟག་མོ་བུ་ལྔ་དང་བཅས་པར། །

gyur tsé takmo bu nga dang chépar

He offered his own body to the hungry tigress and her five cubs,

སྐུ་ལུས་སྦྱིན་བཏང་ལྷག་མར་ལྷའི་དབང་པོས། །

ku lü jin tang lhakmar lhé wangpö

Prompting Indra, lord of the gods, to create this stūpa,

མཆོད་སྡོང་བཞེངས་པར་མཛད་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

chö dong zhengpar dzé la solwa dep

Wherein to place his remains—to you who acted in this way, I pray!

འཛམ་བུའི་གླིང་གི་རྟེན་མཆོག་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན། །

dzam bü ling gi ten chok khyepar chen

Through the blessings of prostrating, offering and praying

བསོད་ནམས་བསགས་པའི་དཔལ་ཞིང་དམ་པ་ལ། །

sönam sakpé pal zhing dam pa la

Here, before such an especially sacred object in this world of ours,

ཕྱག་མཆོད་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱིས། །

chak chö solwa tabpé chinlap kyi

A supreme, venerable field for the accumulation of merit,

བདག་གཞན་འགྲོ་བས་བྱང་ཆུབ་མྱུར་ཐོབ་ཤོག །

dak zhen drowé chang chub nyur tob shok

May I and all other beings swiftly attain awakening.

བདག་ནི་འཁོར་བར་ཇི་ཙམ་གནས་ཀྱི་བར། །

dak ni khorwar ji tsam né kyi bar

For as long as I remain here in saṃsāra,

གཞན་ཕན་སྒྲུབ་ལ་སྤྲོ་བ་སྐྱེས་པ་དང་། །

zhen pen drup la trowa kyepa dang

May I take delight in altruistic actions,

སྐྱོ་ངལ་མེད་ཅིང་བཟོད་པའི་གོ་ཆ་བརྟན། །

kyo ngel mé ching zöpé gocha ten

And never tire, but remain secure in the armour of endurance,

དམྱལ་མེ་བཟོད་དཀའི་གནས་སུའང་འཇུག་ནུས་ཤོག །

nyal mé zö ké né su'ang juk nü shok

Capable even of entering the unbearable flames of hell.

རྒྱལ་བའི་ཆོས་ཚུལ་མཐའ་དག་རབ་འཛིན་ཅིང་། །

gyelwé chö tsül tadak rab dzin ching

Maintaining all the victorious buddhas' ways of Dharma,

སངས་རྒྱས་བྱང་སེམས་མ་ལུས་མཆོད་པ་དང་། །

sangyé chang sem malü chöpa dang

And venerating each and every buddha and bodhisattva,

ཞིང་ཁམས་མཐའ་དག་ཡོངས་སུ་སྦྱོང་བ་དང་། །

shing kham tadak yong su jongwa dang

May I thoroughly purify all the various realms,

བདེ་བར་གཤེགས་པའི་ཆོས་རྣམས་ཡོངས་རྫོགས་ཤོག །

dewar shekpé chö nam yong dzok shok

And fully perfect all the qualities of the sugatas.

མདོར་ན་འཇམ་དཔལ་དབྱངས་ཀྱི་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་དང་། །

dor na jampal yang kyi tuk kyé dang

In short, by generating the intention of Mañjughoṣa,

མཛད་པ་སྨོན་ལམ་ཇི་བཞིན་འགྲུབ་གྱུར་ནས། །

dzepa mönlam jizhin drup gyur né

And accomplishing his activity according to these aspirations,

ནམ་མཁའི་མཐའ་མཉམ་འགྲོ་བ་མ་ལུས་པ། །

namkhé ta nyam drowa malüpa

May I lead all beings, who are as infinite as space,

ཀུན་ཏུ་བཟང་པོའི་གོ་འཕང་ལ་འགོད་ཤོག །

kuntu zangpö gopang la gö shok

To the level of Samantabhadra, the Ever Excellent!

ཅེས་པའང་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་པས་སྨོན་ཚིག་ཏུ་བྲིས་པ་དེ་བཞིན་འགྲུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག། །།

May these words of aspiration, written by the one called Chökyi Lodrö, be accomplished in this way!
