Lobsang Phuntsok Lhalungpa (1926–2008) was born in Lhasa, Tibet. From 1940 until 1952, he was a monk-official in the service of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and of the Tibetan government. He spent decades in India and became chief of the Tibetan division of All India Radio, before relocating to North America where he published the first complete English translation of the The Life of Milarepa, as well as a translation of Dakpo Tashi Namgyal's Moonbeams of Mahāmudrā and other works.
