A Song of Prayer to Jamyang Loter Wangpo

སྐྱེ་མེད་ཆོས་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་མཁའ་ལ། །

kyemé chöying kyi kha la

In the unborn space of dharmadhātu

འགག་མེད་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཡི་འོད་ཟེར། །

gakmé tukjé yi özer

Light rays of compassion are unceasing.

མ་རིག་མུན་སེལ་གྱི་ཉི་གཞོན། །

marik münsel gyi nyizhön

A new sun that banishes the darkness of unknowing,

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

ལྔ་བདོའི་འགྲོ་བ་ཡི་སྣང་ངོར། །

nga dö drowa yi nang ngor

In the perception of beings in this age of fivefold degeneration,

ཐ་མལ་ཟག་བཅས་ཀྱི་ཕུང་པོ། །

tamal zakché kyi pungpo

You appeared with ordinary, tainted aggregates.

རང་ངོར་འཁྲུལ་ཟད་ཀྱི་རྣལ་འབྱོར། །

rang ngor trul zé kyi naljor

But you are a yogi for whom delusion has ended,

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

ཚུལ་མཐོང་བྱིས་པ་ཡི་བློ་ངོར། །

tsul tong jipa yi lo ngor

To childish beings of limited capacity

འཇིག་རྟེན་མི་ལུས་སུ་སྣང་ཡང་། །

jikten milü su nang yang

You appear in a mundane human form,

དགོངས་པ་སངས་རྒྱས་དང་མཉམ་པའི། །

gongpa sangye dang nyampé

Yet your realization matches that of a buddha—

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

རྣམ་དག་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་དམིགས་བུ། །

namdak tsultrim kyi mik bu

You are a leader pure in ethical discipline

ཐེག་གསུམ་དམ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འདྲེན་བྱེད། །

tek sum damchö kyi dren jé

With the vision of the noble Dharma of the three vehicles,

ཐར་པའི་ལམ་སྟོན་གྱི་བཤེས་གཉེན། །

tarpé lam tön gyi shenyen

A guide revealing the way to liberation—

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

སྔོན་སྨོན་དུས་བབ་ཀྱི་སྟོན་པ། །

ngön mön dübab kyi tönpa

Teacher for whom past aspirations have matured,

སྐལ་བཟང་སློབ་མ་ཡི་འདྲེན་མཆོག །

kalzang lobma yi dren chok

Supreme guide for fortunate disciples,

གསང་ཆེན་རྒྱུད་སྡེ་ཡི་མངའ་བདག །

sang chen gyüdé yi ngadak

Sovereign of the great secret classes of tantra—

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

གསར་རྙིང་བཀའ་གཏེར་གྱི་དམ་ཆོས། །

sar nying kater gyi damchö

You are the master of all the noble Dharma teachings

ཀུན་གྱི་བདག་པོ་རུ་བཞུགས་པ། །

kün gyi dakpo ru zhukpa

Of the New and Old traditions, of kama and of terma,

རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་དབང་གི་ཞལ་སྐྱིན། །

dorjé chang wang gi zhal kyin

A representative of the mighty Vajradhara—

དྲིན་ཅན་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

drinchen lama dé khyen no

O gracious guru, care for me!

 

སྨིན་བྱེད་དབང་བསྐུར་གྱི་བུམ་བཟང་། །

min jé wangkur gyi bum zang

Like an excellent vase that bestows ripening empowerments,

གྲོལ་བྱེད་མན་ངག་གི་དེད་དཔོན། །

drol jé mengak gi depön

A leader whose pith instructions bring about liberation,

དྲི་མེད་རྒྱལ་བསྟན་གྱི་སྲོག་ཤིང་། །

drimé gyalten gyi sokshing

Life-pillar of the flawless teachings of the victorious ones,

བློ་གཏེར་དབང་པོ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ། །

lo ter wangpo dé khyen no

Loter Wangpo, ‘Lord of the Treasury of Intelligence’, care for me!

 

ལེགས་བྱས་བསོད་ནམས་ཀྱི་རི་མོ། །

lek jé sönam kyi rimo

Like a picture of well-performed meritorious deeds,

དོན་མཐུན་སྨོན་ལམ་གྱིས་བྲིས་བས། །

döntün mönlam gyi driwé

Drawn with aspirations that accord with reality,

ཁྱོད་ཞལ་པདྨོ་ཡི་ཟེའུ་འབྲུ། །

khyö zhal pemo yi zé'u dru

Your face, like the heart of a lotus flower,

མིག་གི་བདུད་རྩི་རུ་གྱུར་སོང་། །

mik gi dütsi ru gyur song

Appeared as ambrosia for the eyes.

 

འོད་གསལ་ཤར་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་ཐིག་ལེ། །

ösal sharchok kyi tiklé

As the eastern orb of clear light

བསྟན་པའི་པད་ཚལ་དུ་ཆས་པས། །

tenpé petsal du chepé

Shines on the lotus grove of the teachings,

འགོག་མེད་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཀྱི་སྣང་བས། །

gokmé trinlé kyi nangwé

May the light of unceasing enlightened activity

ས་གསུམ་དགེ་ལེགས་རང་མཛོད་ཅིག །

sa sum gelek rang dzö chik

Bring virtue and goodness to the three worlds!

 

དགོངས་པ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཀློང་ཆེན། །

gongpa yeshe kyi longchen

In the vast expanse of wisdom realization,

མི་ཤིགས་འོད་ལྔ་ཡི་ཚོམ་བུ། །

mishik ö nga yi tsombu

May the cluster of indestructible five-coloured light,

འཕོ་མེད་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཡི་སྐུ་མཆོག །

pomé dorjé yi ku chok

Arise as the vajra body beyond transference,

རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཆོས་བདུན་དུ་ཤོག་ཅིག །

dorjé chödün du shok chik

Complete with the seven vajra qualities!

 

ཅེས་རྗེ་བླ་མ་འཇམ་དབྱངས་བློ་གཏེར་དབང་པོ་ལ་གསོལ་འདེབས་པའི་མགུར་དབྱངས་དོན་གཉེར་ཅན་གྱི་ངོར་གཞན་ཕན་སྣང་བས་བྲིས་པ་དགེ་ལེགས་སུ་གྱུར་ཅིག། །།

Shenpen Nangwa wrote this song of supplication to the noble guru Jamyang Loter Wangpo in response to one with eager aspiration. May it bring virtue and goodness!
