Shechen Kongtrul Long-Life Prayer
༄༅། །ཞབས་བརྟན་གསོལ་འདེབས་དྲང་སྲོང་ཀུན་ཏུ་དགེ་བའི་བདེན་ཚིག་བཞུགས་སོ།།
The Sage’s Wholly Virtuous Words of Truth
A Prayer for the Long Life of Shechen Kongtrul

ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་བྷྱཿ
Namo gurubhyaḥ!
སྐྱབས་གནས་ཀུན་འདུས་པདྨ་ཕྲེང་སོགས། །
kyabné kündü pema treng sok
Padma Tötreng, who embodies all the sources of refuge,
བརྒྱུད་གསུམ་རིག་འཛིན་བླ་མའི་ཚོགས་རྣམས་དང༌། །
gyü sum rigdzin lamé tsok nam dang
And all the other vidyādhara gurus of the three lineages,
ཐེག་པ་རིམ་པ་དགུ་དང་རྒྱུད་སྡེ་བཞིའི །
tekpa rimpa gu dang gyüdé zhi
Together with all the hosts of maṇḍala deities
ཡི་དམ་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་ལྷ་ཚོགས་ཐམས་ཅད་དང༌། །
yidam kyilkhor lhatsok tamché dang
For the yidams of the four tantra classes and the nine vehicles,
ཕྱོགས་བཅུའི་དུས་བཞིའི་སངས་རྒྱས་བྱང་སེམས་ཚོགས། །
chok chü dü zhi sangye changsem tsok
As well as all the buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions and four times,
གནས་གསུམ་དཔའ་བོ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་ཆོས་སྐྱོང་བའི། །
né sum pawo khandro chökyongwé
The vīras and ḍākinīs of the three planes, and all the oceanic hosts
སྲུང་མ་དམ་ཅན་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་ཚོགས་དང་བཅས། །
sungma damchen gyatsö tsok dangché
Of dharma protectors and oath-bound guardians—
མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་ནུས་པའི་བདག་ཉིད་མཆོག་རྣམས་ལ། །
khyen tsé nü pé daknyi chok nam la
To all these sublime embodiments of knowledge, love and power,
གདུང་ཤུགས་དྲག་པོས་སྙིང་ནས་གསོལ་འདེབས་ཀྱི །
dungshuk drakpö nying né soldeb kyi
I pray with intense, heartfelt yearning:
ཐུགས་རྗེ་ནུས་པའི་རྩལ་ཤུགས་མྱུར་ཕྱུངས་ལ། །
tukjé nüpé tsalshuk nyur chung la
Quickly unleash the full force of all your compassion strength,
སྙིགས་དུས་བསྟན་དང་འགྲོ་བའི་མགོན་གཅིག་པུ། །
nyikdü ten dang drowé gön chikpu
And cause the life of this dharma lord Pema Drimé Lodrö,
ཆོས་རྗེ་པདྨ་དྲི་མེད་བློ་གྲོས་ཀྱི །
chöjé pema drimé lodrö kyi
Sole protector of the teachings and beings in this degenerate age,
སྐུ་ཚེ་བསྐལ་བ་བྱེ་བར་རྟག་བརྟན་ཅིང༌། །
kutsé kalwa jewar takten ching
To remain secure for millions upon millions of aeons,
རྒྱལ་བསྟན་ཡོངས་རྫོགས་འཛིན་སྐྱོང་སྤེལ་བ་དང་། །
gyalten yongdzok dzin kyong pelwa dang
That he might uphold, preserve and spread the victorious ones’ teachings,
མཐོང་ཐོས་དྲན་རེག་སྨིན་གྲོལ་མཛད་པ་སོགས། །
tong tö dren rek mindrol dzepa sok
Lead all who see, hear, think of, or come into contact with him to ripening and liberation,
སྲས་བཅས་རྒྱལ་བའི་འཕྲིན་ལས་སྒྲུབ་པ་ལ །
sé ché gyalwé trinlé drubpa la
And carry out the enlightened activity of the victorious buddhas and their heirs,
འགལ་རྐྱེན་བར་ཆད་མིང་ཡང་མི་གྲགས་ཤིང༌། །
galkyen barché ming yang mi drak shing
Without even the name of obstacles or adversity being heard.
མཐུན་རྐྱེན་ལེགས་ཚོགས་ཡར་ངོའི་ཟླ་ལྟར་འཕེལ །
tünkyen lektsok yar ngö da tar pel
Cause positive, favourable circumstances to increase like the waxing moon
ཐུགས་ཀྱི་བཞེད་པ་ལྷུན་གྱིས་འགྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །
tuk kyi zhepa lhün gyi drubpar dzö
And all his enlightened wishes to be spontaneously fulfilled!
ཅེས་པའང་རྗེ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཞལ་སློབ་འཇིགས་ཚེ་མཆོག་གི་ལྷ་རེག་བཅས་བསྐུར་ངོར་རྭ་གྲྭ་བིརྻ་པས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་དགེའོ།།
Vīrya, a monk from Ra, offered this prayer at the request of the master’s sublime disciple Jigtse, who offered a scarf of divine silk. May it prove virtuous!
