An Aspiration for the Spread of the Noble Gendenpa Tradition

རྒྱལ་བ་མ་ལུས་སྐྱེད་པའི་ཡབ་གྱུར་ཀྱང༌། །

gyalwa malü kyepé yab gyur kyang

You are the great father who engenders all the victorious buddhas,

རྒྱལ་སྲས་ཚུལ་གྱིས་ཞིང་ཁམས་རབ་འབྱམས་སུ། །

gyalsé tsul gyi zhingkham rabjam su

Yet resolved to uphold the Buddhadharma in infinite realms

རྒྱལ་བའི་ཆོས་འཛིན་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་བདེན་པའི་མཐུས། །

gyalwé chö dzin tukkyé denpé tü

As a bodhisattva heir to the victors—through the power of this truth,

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

སྔོན་ཚེ་དབང་བོའི་ཏོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔ་རུ། །

ngöntsé wangwö tok gi chen nga ru

Long ago, in the presence of Indraketu,

དམ་བཅས་ཚེ་ན་སྙིང་སྟོབས་ཆེན་པོ་ཞེས། །

damché tsé na nyingtob chenpo zhé

You made your vow, and the buddhas and their bodhisattva heirs

སྲས་བཅས་རྒྱལ་བས་བསྔགས་བརྗོད་བདེན་པའི་མཐུས། །

sé ché gyalwé ngak jö denpé tü

Praised your great courage—through the power of this truth,

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

ལྟ་སྤྱོད་གཙང་མའི་བརྒྱུད་པ་སྤེལ་བའི་ཕྱིར། །

tachö tsangmé gyüpa pelwé chir

So that the lineage of pure view and conduct might develop,

ཐུབ་པའི་དྲུང་དུ་ཤེལ་དཀར་ཕྲེང་བ་ཕུལ། །

tubpé drung du shel kar trengwa pul

You presented a crystal rosary as an offering to Śākyamuni,

ཆོས་དུང་གནང་ཞིང་ལུང་བསྟན་བདེན་པའི་མཐུས། །

chö dung nang zhing lungten denpé tü

Who gave you a dharma conch and prophesied your future—through the power of this truth,

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

ལྟ་བ་རྣམ་དག་རྟག་ཆད་མཐའ་ལས་གྲོལ། །

tawa namdak takché ta lé drol

Pure in your view, free from the extremes of eternalism and nihilism;

སྒོམ་པ་རྣམ་དག་བྱིང་རྨུགས་མུན་པ་སངས། །

gompa namdak jing muk münpa sang

Pure in your meditation, undimmed by lethargy and dullness;

སྤྱོད་པ་རྣམ་དག་རྒྱལ་བའི་བཀའ་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབས། །

chöpa namdak gyalwé ka zhin drub

Pure in your conduct, acting in accordance with Buddha’s words;

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

མང་དུ་ཐོས་པ་རྒྱ་ཆེར་བཙལ་བས་མཁས། །

mangdu töpa gyacher tsalwé khé

Learned, due to your vast study and extensive enquiry,

ཐོས་དོན་ཇི་བཞིན་རྒྱུད་ལ་སྦྱར་བས་བཙུན། །

tö dön jizhin gyü la jarwé tsün

Venerable, through having applied the points of study to your character,

ཀུན་ཀྱང་བསྟན་འགྲོའི་དོན་དུ་བསྔོ་བས་བཟང། །

kün kyang ten drö döndu ngowé zang

Kind-hearted, due to dedicating all towards the teachings and beings—

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

དྲང་ངེས་གསུང་རབ་མ་ལུས་འགལ་མེད་དུ། །

drang ngé sung rab malü galmé du

In your certainty that all teachings, provisional and definitive,

གང་ཟག་གཅིག་གི་ཉམས་ལེན་གདམས་པ་རུ། །

gangzak chik gi nyamlen dampa ru

Are practical instructions applicable to the individual,

ངེས་པ་རྙེད་པས་ཉེས་སྤྱོད་མཐའ་དག་འགགས། །

ngepa nyepé nyechö tadak gak

You eliminated all forms of unwholesome conduct—

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

ལུང་ཆོས་སྡེ་སྣོད་གསུམ་གྱི་འཆད་ཉན་དང༌། །

lung chödé nö sum gyi chenyen dang

You listened to explanations of the scriptural Dharma of the three collections,

རྟོགས་པའི་བསྟན་པ་བསླབ་གསུམ་ཉམས་ལེན་ཏེ། །

tokpé tenpa lab sum nyamlen té

Practised the three trainings, the doctrine of realization,

མཁས་ཤིང་གྲུབ་པའི་རྣམ་ཐར་རྨད་དུ་བྱུང༌། །

khé shing drubpé namtar mé du jung

And set a wondrous example of life-long learning and accomplishment—

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

ཕྱི་རུ་ཉན་ཐོས་སྤྱོད་པས་ཞི་ཞིང་དུལ། །

chi ru nyentö chöpé zhi zhing dul

Outwardly peaceful and subdued through the śrāvakas' conduct;

ནང་དུ་རིམ་གཉིས་རྣལ་འབྱོར་གདེང་དང་ལྡན། །

nang du rim nyi naljor deng dangden

While inwardly possessing the assurance of the two-stage yoga;

མདོ་སྔགས་ལམ་བཟང་འགལ་མེད་གྲོགས་སུ་འཁྱེར། །

do ngak lamzang galmé drok su khyer

You perfectly reconciled the excellent paths of sūtra and mantra—

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

རྒྱུ་ཡི་ཐེག་པར་བཤད་པའི་སྟོང་བ་ཉིད། །

gyu yi tekpar shepé tongwa nyi

To combine the emptiness that is explained in the causal vehicle

འབྲས་བུའི་ཐབས་ཀྱིས་སྒྲུབ་པའི་བདེ་ཆེན་དང༌། །

drebü tab kyi drubpé dechen dang

With the great bliss achieved through the fruitional vehicle’s methods

མཉམ་སྦྱོར་ཆོས་ཕུང་བརྒྱད་ཁྲིའི་སྙིང་བོའི་བཅུད། །

nyamjor chö pung gyé tri nyingwö chü

Is the very heart and quintessence of the eighty-four thousand sections of Dharma—

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

སྐྱེས་བུ་གསུམ་གྱི་ལམ་གྱི་སྲུང་མའི་གཙོ། །

kyebu sum gyi lam gyi sungmé tso

Chief among the guardians of the paths of the three types of individual—

མྱུར་མཛད་མགོན་དང་རྣམ་སྲས་ལས་གཤིན་སོགས། །

nyur dzé gön dang namsé lé shin sok

Mahākāla who is swift to act, Vaiśravaṇa, Kālarūpa and the rest—¹

བསྟན་སྲུང་དམ་ཅན་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་མཐུ་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས། །

tensung damchen gyatsö tutob kyi

Through the power and strength of an ocean of oath-bound Dharma guardians,

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

May the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

མདོར་ན་དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མའི་སྐུ་ཚེ་བརྟན། །

dorna palden lamé kutsé ten

In short, may the lives of the glorious masters be secure,

མཁས་བཙུན་བསྟན་འཛིན་དམ་པས་ས་སྟེང་གང༌། །

khé tsün tendzin dampé sateng gang

May the world be filled with learned, venerable holders of the teachings,

བསྟན་པའི་སྦྱིན་བདག་མངའ་ཐང་དར་བ་ཡིས། །

tenpé jindak ngatang darwa yi

And may the power and influence of Dharma benefactors increase,

བློ་བཟང་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་གྱུར་ཅིག །

lobzang gyalwé tenpa gyé gyur chik

So that the victorious Lobzang Drakpa's teachings flourish and spread!

 

ཅེས་པ་འདི་ནི་ལྷག་བསམ་རྣམ་དཔྱོད་ཡངས་པ་རབ་འབྱམས་པ་བློ་བཟང་བསྟན་པས་བསྐུལ་ཞིང༌། སྤྱིར་དེང་དུས་རྗེ་བླ་མའི་བསྟན་པ་འདི་ནི་ཟུངས་ཟད་ཀྱི་ནད་པ་སྨན་པས་བོར་བ་བཞིན་དུ་བདག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པ་འགའ་ཡང་མི་སྣང་བས། ཅུང་ཟད་རེ་བསྲིང་ཐུབ་ནའང་ཅི་མ་རུང་སྙམ་དུ་སྨོན་པའི་ཡིད་ཀྱིས་བཙུན་པ་དཀོན་མཆོག་བསྟན་པའི་སྒྲོན་མེས་བྲིས་པའོ། །

This was requested by Rabjampa Lobzang Tenpa, who possesses pure motivation and vast intellect. Seeing that generally these days the doctrine of Jé Lama is like an exhausted patient abandoned by the doctor and with no sign of anyone to take charge, I felt it would be right to contribute in whatever way I could to extending the longevity of these teachings. Thus, I, the monk Könchok Tenpé Drönmé, wrote this with an aspiring mind.
