Tangtong Gyalpo Praise
In Praise of the Siddha Tangtong Gyalpo
by Ngor Khenchen Sangye Puntsok
namo guruwé
Namo gurave!
gyalwé lungten tsöndrü zangpö zhab
Prophesied by the victorious ones, venerable Tsöndrü Zangpo,
gya böyul dru küntu tulzhuk kyi
You practised yogic conduct throughout the lands of India and Tibet,
chö dzé tangtong gyalpor nyenpar drak
And became renowned as Tangtong Gyalpo, 'King of the Empty Plain':
orgyen nyipé zhab la solwa deb
Like a second guru of Oḍḍiyāna, to you I pray!
ku sung tuk ten chu la chak zam sok
You sponsored supports of enlightened body, speech and mind,
nampar karwé gé tsok pakmé kyi
The construction of bridges and so on—boundless acts of merit,
ngönmé nyima sarwé getsen chen
Bringing signs of virtue like the unheralded dawn of a new sun,
drubchen chö kyi jé la solwa deb
Mahāsiddha, Lord of Dharma, to you I pray!
gön khyö güpé solwa tabpé tü
Through the power of praying reverently to you, O protector,
chö tün tsé pal sönam rabgyé shing
May our conformity to the Dharma, longevity, splendour and merit all increase,
tsok nyi gyatso yongsu dzok gyur té
And may we perfectly gather an ocean of twofold accumulation,
tob chu ngawé gopang nyur tob shok
And swiftly arrive at a state of mastery over the ten powers!
Sangye Puntsok wrote this praise of the siddha Thangtong Gyalpo in the presence of that master's very own throne at Lhundrup Teng in Derge, a monastery that was founded by the siddhi himself. May virtue and excellence abound!
