༄༅། །ཞབས་བརྟན་བཞུགས།

Prayer for the Long Life of Alak Zenkar Rinpoche

ཐུབ་བསྟན་ཡོངས་སུ་རྫོགས་པའི་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་ལས། །

tubten yongsu dzokpé kyilkhor lé

With a thousand rays, the wondrous expression of scripture and reasoning,

རྨད་བྱུང་ལུང་རིགས་སྨྲ་བའི་འོད་སྟོང་གིས། །

mejung lung rik mawé ötong gi

From the solar maṇḍala of the Sage’s teachings as a whole,

བཤད་སྒྲུབ་པད་ཚལ་ཕྱོགས་བརྒྱར་རྒྱས་པའི་གཉེན། །

shedrub petsal chok gyar gyepé nyen

You cause the lotus gardens of teaching and practice to bloom in a hundred directions—

གངས་ཅན་བསྟན་པའི་ཉི་མར་ཞབས་བརྟན་གསོལ། །

gangchen tenpé nyimar zhabten sol

Sun of the teachings in the Land of Snows, may your life remain secure.¹

བཀྲ་ཤིས་སྐུ་ཡི་དཔག་བསམ་རྩ་བ་བརྟན། །

tashi ku yi paksam tsawa ten

With the stable roots of your auspicious, wishing-tree-like form,

ལེགས་བཤད་བདུད་རྩིའི་ཆར་གྱིས་འཛམ་གླིང་བསིལ། །

lek shé dütsi char gyi dzamling sil

The nectarous rain of your excellent speech that cleanses the world,

ཡེ་ཤེས་གཟི་བརྗིད་དམ་པའི་ཚོགས་ནང་དུ། །

yeshe ziji dampé tsok nang du

And your wisdom and brilliance preeminent among hosts of the sublime,

ཆེར་འཕགས་ཉི་ཟླའི་མཆེད་པོར་འཚོ་གཞེས་གསོལ། །

cher pak nyidé chepor tsozhé sol

May you remain, I pray, like a counterpart of the sun and moon.

སྲས་བཅས་རྒྱལ་རྣམས་ཚེ་དབང་བདུད་རྩི་སྩོལ། །

sé ché gyal nam tsewang dütsi tsol

May the buddhas and their heirs confer the nectarous empowerment of long life,

རིག་འཛིན་ཌཱཀྐིས་ཤིས་བརྗོད་དབྱངས་སྙན་སྒྲོགས། །

rigdzin daki shijö yang nyen drok

The vidyādharas and ḍākinīs sing melodious songs of auspiciousness,

མཐུ་ལྡན་སྲུང་མས་དགྲ་བགེགས་ཐལ་བར་བརླག །

tuden sungmé dragek talwar lak

And mighty guardians crush opposing and obstructing forces to dust,

དགེ་ལེགས་རྟག་པའི་སྣང་བ་འབར་གྱུར་ཅིག །

gelek takpé nangwa bar gyur chik

And may the light of everlasting virtue and excellence shine!

ཚིག་མཛེས་དོན་ཟབ་མིན་ཡང་སྙིང་ནས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་ལགས་ན་དེ་བཞིན་འགྲུབ་པར་ཤོག་ཅིག

Although this is not elegant in its language or profound in its meaning, since it represents a heartfelt prayer may it be accomplished just so!
