For the recitation and invocation of wisdom mind,
Visualize in the heart-centre of the gurus
A naturally arisen, indestructible expanse of five-coloured light,
Within which are stacked the three seed-syllables of secret mantra.7
By performing as many silent prāṇa-recitations as possible
And a million vocalized recitations
You will receive the guru’s blessings.

At times, also recite the life-force mantra of the vidyādhara:

om ah hung karma benza maha guru sarva siddhi hung soha

oṃ āḥ hūṃ karma-vajra-mahāguru sarva siddhi hūṃ svāhā

Between sessions pray with the Four Sets of Manam,8
And recite 'Karmapa Khyenno!' as much as you can.
Afterwards, combine it with any suitable feast offering, etc.
And at the end of the session, let appearance as deity
Dissolve into the state of clear light,
And rest in an experience of Mahāmudrā.

Then, once again, arise vividly in the guru’s form,
Dedicate the merit and recite verses of auspiciousness as appropriate.
Without separating from the three carry-overs,9
Practise the post-meditative yoga of daily activity.
Samaya.

Thus, on the basis of an unclear, delusory experience on the sixth day of the first month of the Earth Dog year, Pema Yeshe Dorje wrote this in the palace of celestial ḍākinīs in Sikkim on the second 'excellence' of the waxing phase of the month.10 May virtue abound!

When the writing of this was almost complete, three people—a monk from Tsurphu called Karma Tendzin Trinlé,11 a young boy seeking a hair-cutting ceremony, who was given the name Karma Shedrup Dargye,12 and a girl—came and offered silk, a cup and three coins, which I thought an auspicious coincidence.

barché dü dé pungtsok dok tu sol

Please avert obstacles and Māra’s forces.
