Prayer for the Long Life of Gyaltön Choktrul Incorporating His Series of Rebirths

ཨོཾ་སྭསྟི།

om svasti

Oṃ svasti.

རྒྱལ་དབང་མཚོ་སྐྱེས་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཡབ་ཡུམ་དང་།    །

gyalwang tsokyé dorjé yabyum dang

To the victorious Lake-born Vajra and consort,

རྗེ་འབངས་གྲུབ་ཐོབ་རིག་པ་འཛིན་རྣམས་ལ།    །

jebang drubtob rigpa dzin nam la

Twenty-five disciples, siddhas and vidyādharas,

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བྱིན་རླབས་ཆར་ཆེན་ཕོབ།    །

solwa deb so jinlab char chen pob

I pray: shower down a great rain of blessings

མཆོག་དང་ཐུན་མོང་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩལ་དུ་གསོལ།    །

chok dang tünmong ngödrub tsal du sol

And grant us attainments, ordinary and supreme.

འཕགས་ཡུལ་པཎ་གྲུབ་འཇམ་དཔལ་བཤེས་གཉེན་དང་།    །

pakyul pendrub jampal shenyen dang

Mañjuśrīmitra, accomplished paṇḍita of the Noble Land,

གཤིན་རྗེའི་གཤེད་ཀྱི་བཀའ་བབས་ཤིང་རྟ་ཆེ།    །

shinjé shé kyi kabab shingta ché

Grant pioneer in the transmission of Yamāntaka teachings,

གནུབ་ཀྱི་རིགས་འཁྲུངས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཡེ་ཤེས་དང་།    །

nub kyi rik trung sangye yeshe dang

Sangye Yeshe, who was born into the clan of Nub,

བརྩོན་འགྲུས་སེང་གེའི་ཞབས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས།    །

tsöndrü sengé zhab la solwa deb

And noble Tsöndrü Sengé, to you I pray.

དྭགས་པོའི་ཐུགས་སྲས་གསལ་སྟོང་ཤྭ་སྒོམ་དང་།    །

dakpö tuksé saltong shagom dang

Saltong Shagom,¹ who was Dakpo’s heart-son,

མཁས་གྲུབ་དབང་པོ་ནམ་མཁའ་རིན་ཆེན་ཞབས།    །

khedrub wangpo namkha rinchen zhab

Namkha Rinchen, a master of learning and accomplishment,

ཉམས་རྟོགས་མཐར་ཕྱིན་སྦ་མཚམས་པདྨ་རྗེ།    །

nyamtok tarchin batsam pema jé

Lord Batsam Pema, who perfected experience and realization,

བསོད་ནམས་ལྷ་རྒྱལ་རྣམས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས།    །

sönam lhagyal nam la solwa deb

And Sonam Lhagyal, to you I pray.

ཡོངས་འཛིན་དམ་པ་མང་པོས་རྗེས་སུ་བཟུང་།    །

yongdzin dampa mangpö jesu zung

You were cared for and guided by many sublime teachers,

བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་ལྡན་བསྙེན་སྒྲུབ་རྟགས་ཚད་ཐོན།    །

changchub semden nyendrub tak tsé tön

Possess bodhicitta, gained signs of realization in approach and accomplishment,

བསྟན་དང་འགྲོ་བར་ཕན་བདེའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་སྦྱིན།    །

ten dang drowar pendé trinlé jin

And now, through your enlightened actions, bring benefit and happiness to the teachings and beings—

ཨོ་རྒྱན་འཇིགས་མེད་དབང་པོར་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས།    །

orgyen jikme wangpor solwa deb

Orgyen Jigme Wangpo,² to you I pray.

དེ་ལྟར་གསོལ་བཏབ་བདེན་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་ཡིས།    །

detar soltab denpé nütu yi

Through the power of the truth of praying in this way,

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མའི་ཞབས་པད་ཡུན་དུ་བརྟན།    །

palden lamé zhabpé yündu ten

May the glorious guru’s life long remain secure,

ཐུགས་ཀྱི་བཞེད་དོན་མ་ལུས་འགྲུབ་པ་དང་།    །

tuk kyi zhedön malü drubpa dang

May all his noble aspirations be fulfilled,

དོན་གཉིས་མཐའ་རུ་ཕྱིན་པའི་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཤོག  །

dön nyi ta ru chinpé tashi shok

And may all be auspicious for the perfection of twofold benefit.³

ཅེས་པའང་མཆོག་སྤྲུལ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཉེ་གནས་ཚེ་དབང་འགྱུར་མེད་ནས་དར།  ཤིང་ཏོག་ཀུ་བ་འབྲས་ལྡན།  རིན་སྒོར་དབང་ལྔའི་གྲངས་ལྡན་བཅས་བསྐུལ་ངོར་མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་དབང་པོའི་སྐྱེས་མིང་འཛིན་པ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་པས་སྒང་ཐོག་ནས་བྲིས་པ་དགེ་ལེགས་སུ་གྱུར་ཅིག  །  །།

In response to a request from Tsewang Gyurme, the supreme tulku’s own attendant, supported by gifts of scarf, fruit juice and coins equal in number to the five powers, Chökyi Lodrö, who holds the name of an incarnation of Khyentse Wangpo, wrote this in Gangtok. May it prove virtuous and excellent.
