The Rain of Wisdom Blessings

A Song of Prayer to the Guru

Aho!

རང་བྱུང་ལྔ་ལྡན་འཇའ་ཟེར་འཁྲུགས་པ་ཡི་ཀློང་ན།  །

rangjung ngaden jazer trukpa yi long na

Amidst an expanse of self-arisen, five-coloured rainbow light,¹

ཕ་གཅིག་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་ཆོས༵་ཀྱི༵་བློ༵་གྲོས༵་ཁྱེད་མཁྱེན་ནོ།  །

pa chik drinchen lama chökyi lodrö khyé khyen no

My only father, gracious guru, Chökyi Lodrö, watch over me!

བདག་ཅག་ལས་ངན་འཁྲུལ་པ་ཡི་དབང་དུ་མ་གཏོང་།  །

dakchak lé ngen trulpa yi wang duma tong

Do not allow us, whose karma is so wicked, to fall prey to delusion

སྲིད་ལས་ངེས་འབྱུང་སྐྱེ་བར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རང་རློབས་ཤིག  །

si lé ngejung kyewar jin gyi rang lob shik

But inspire us with the determination to escape conditioned existence!

གཞན་ཕན་ཐུགས་རྗེའི་གཏེར་ཆེན་རྒྱལ་སྲས་ཁྱེད་མཁྱེན་ནོ།  །

zhenpen tukjé terchen gyalsé khyé khyen no

Great treasure of altruism and compassion, heir to the victorious, watch over me!

བདག་འཛིན་འགོང་པོ་འདི་ཉིད་ཚར་གཅོད་ཞིག་བྱས་ཏེ།  །

dakdzin gongpo di nyi tsarchö zhik jé té

Inspire me to subjugate this demon of self-clinging,

བདག་བས་གཞན་གཅེས་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་མཆོག་ནི་འབྱོངས་ནས།  །

dakwé zhen ché changchub sem chok ni jong né

Master the sublime bodhicitta of cherishing others above myself,

འགྲོ་དོན་མཁའ་ཁྱབ་འབྱུང་བར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རང་རློབས་ཤིག  །

dro dön khakhyab jungwar jin gyi rang lob shik

And become a source of benefit for beings throughout the whole of space.

རྡོ་རྗེའི་རིག་འཛིན་པདྨཱ་ཀ་ར་ཡི་རྒྱལ་ཚབ།  །

dorjé rigdzin pemakara yi gyaltsab

Vajra vidyādhara, representative of Padmākara,

ཡེ༵་ཤེས༵་རྡོ༵་རྗེ༵་འོད༵་གས༵ལ་སྙིང༵་པོ༵་རྩལ༵་མཁྱེན་ནོ།  །

yeshe dorjé ösal nyingpo tsal khyen no

Yeshe Dorje Ösal Nyingpo Tsal, watch over me!

དབང་བཞིའི་ཆུ་རྒྱུན་བདག་གི་སྒོ་གསུམ་ལ་བསྐུར་ནས།  །

wang zhi chugyün dak gi go sum la kur né

Confer the stream of four empowerments on my three doors,

རྡོ་རྗེ་བཞི་རུ་སྨིན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རང་རློབས་ཤིག  །

dorjé zhi ru minpar jin gyi rang lob shik

And bless me with maturation as the four vajras!

འཇིག༵ས་མེད༵་ནམ༵་མཁ༵འི་རྡོ༵་རྗེ༵་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ཅན།  །

jikme namkhé dorjé yeshe kyi kuchen

Jigme Namkhai Dorje in your wisdom form,

བི་མའི་སྤྲུལ་པ་ཚེ༵་དབ༵ང་གྲུབ༵་པ༵་རྩལ༵་མཁྱེན་ནོ།  །

bi mé trulpa tsewang drubpa tsal khyen no

Vima’s emanation, Tsewang Drubpa Tsal, watch over me!

གཟུང་འཛིན་རྟོག་ཚོགས་ཆོས་ཉིད་ནམ་མཁའ་ལ་དེངས་ནས།  །

zungdzin toktsok chönyi namkha la deng né

Inspire me with your blessings, so that dualistic thoughts may dissolve into the space of dharmatā,

འོད་གསལ་སྣང་བཞི་མཐར་ཕྱིན་བྱིན་གྱིས་རང་རློབས་ཤིག  །

ösal nang zhi tarchin jin gyi rang lob shik

And I may reach the culmination of the four visions of clear light!

དེང་ནས་བཟུང་སྟེ་བྱང་ཆུབ་སྙིང་པོ་ཡི་བར་དུ།  །

deng né zung té changchub nyingpo yi bardu

From this moment on, until I reach the essence of enlightenment,

དཔལ་མགོན་ཆོས་རྗེ་བླ་མ་ཁྱེད་ཞབས་སུ་སྐྱེས་ནས།  །

palgön chöjé lama khyé zhab su kyé né

Inspire me with your blessings, O glorious guru, protector, lord of Dharma, so that I may be reborn in your presence,

ཐུགས་ཀྱི་བཅུད་ཐོབ་ཉམས་ལེན་མཐའ་རུ་ནི་ཕྱིན་ཏེ།  །

tuk kyi chü tob nyamlen ta ru ni chin té

Receive the essence of your wisdom mind, perfect the practice,

ཁམས་གསུམ་དོང་ནས་སྤྲུགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རང་རློབས་ཤིག  །

kham sum dong né trukpar jin gyi rang lob shik

And empty the three realms from their very depths!

ཅེས་པའང་རང་སློབ་དད་པ་དང་དག་སྣང་གི་བློ་ཅན་སྤར་བརྐོས་ཆོས་འཕེལ་ནས་རིན་ཆེན་སྣ་ཚོགས་ཀྱི་རྟེན་དང་བྲིས་གཞི་བཅས་མཆིམ་ཕུའི་གུར་དཀར་ཕུག་ཏུ་བསྐུལ་བར་བྲག་དམར་ཀེའུ་ཚང་དུ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་པས་བྲིས་པ་སིདྡྷི་རསྟུ།  སརྦ་མངྒ་ལཾ།།   །།

Chökyi Lodrö wrote this in Drakmar Keutsang for his own student Parkö Chöpel, who has a mind of faith and pure perception and who provided writing materials and a gift of various precious substances when making the request in Chimpu’s Gurkar cave.² Siddhirastu! Sarva maṅgalam!
