Brief Sang Offering

བསང་གཏོང་བར་འདོད་པས། སྐྱབས་སེམས་ཚད་མེད་བཞི་སྔོན་དུ་བཏང་ནས། དེ་ནས་རང་ཡི་དམ་གང་ཡིན་པ་དེའི་སྐུར་བཞེངས་པར་མོས་ནས། ངག་ཏུ།

If you wish to make a sang offering, begin with the preliminaries of refuge, bodhicitta and the four immeasurables. Then visualize yourself in the form of your yidam, whoever that might be, and recite the following:

རང་ཉིད་སྐད་ཅིག་གིས་ཡི་དམ་ལྷའི་སྐུར་བཞེངས་པར་གྱུར།

rangnyi kechik gi yidam lhé kurzhengpar gyur

In an instant I assume the form of the yidam deity.

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཨ་མྲི་ཏས་བསངས།

Cleanse with oṃ vajra amṛta…etc.

སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝས་སྦྱངས།

Purify with svabhāva…etc.

སྟོང་པའི་ངང་ལས་བྷྲཱུྃ་ལས་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་སྣོད་ཡངས་ཤིང་རྒྱ་ཆེ་བའི་ནང་དུ།

tongpé ngang lé droom lé rinpoche nö yang shing gyachewé nang du

Out of emptiness, the vast, jewelled vessel appears from bhrūṃ, within which

ཨོཾ་འོད་དུ་ཞུ་བ་ལས་མི་གཙང་བའི་གྲིབ་ངན་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་སེལ་ནུས་པའི་དྲི་ཞིམ་དུད་སྤྲིན་འཁྲིགས་པའི་གསེབ་ནས་མེ་ལོང་པི་ཝཾ་སྤོས་ཕོར་ཞལ་ཟས་ན་བཟའ་ཐོགས་པའི་མཆོད་པའི་ལྷ་མོ་གྲངས་མེད་པ་དང་།

om ö du zhuwa lé mi tsangwé drib ngenpa tamché sel nüpé drizhim dü trin trikpé seb né melong piwam pöpor zhalzé naza tokpé chöpé lhamo drangmepa dang

Oṃ melts into light, and out of the thick clouds of fragrant incense smoke with the power to dispel all contamination and impurity there arise countless offering-goddesses holding mirrors, flutes, bowls of incense, food and clothing,

བཟའ་བཏུང་གོས་རྒྱན་འབྲུ་སྨན་དར་གོས་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་རིགས་དཔག་ཏུ་མེད་པ་བྱུང་ནས།

zatung gö gyen dru men dar gö rinpoche rik pak tu mepa jung né

As well as a boundless array of food, drink, clothing, ornaments, grains, medicines, silks and precious jewels.

ས་དང་བར་སྣང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཁྱོན་ཐམས་ཅད་བསང་གི་མཆོད་པས་ཡོངས་སུ་གང་བར་གྱུར།

sa dang barnang namkhé khyön tamché sang gi chöpé yongsu gangwar gyur

The earth, air and sky are completely filled with the sang offering.

ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།

om ah hung

oṃ āḥ hūṃ

ལན་གསུམ།

Three times.

རང་གི་ཐུགས་ཀའི་འོད་འཕྲོས་ཚོགས་ཞིང་ལྷ། །

rang gi tukké ö trö tsok zhing lha

Light emanates from my heart centre and invites all the deities

མ་ལུས་སྤྱན་དྲངས་མདུན་གྱི་ནམ་མཁར་བཞུགས། །

malü chendrang dün gyi namkhar zhuk

Of the field of merit, who then abide in the sky before me.

 

རྩ་བརྒྱུད་བླ་མ་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

tsa gyü lama nam la sang chö bul

To the root and lineage gurus, I present this sang offering:

རྟོགས་པས་བདག་རྒྱུད་གྲོལ་བར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ། །

tokpé dak gyü drolwar dzé du sol

Cause me to liberate my own mind through realization, I pray.

 

ཡི་དམ་ལྷ་ཚོགས་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

yidam lhatsok nam la sang chö bul

To the hosts of yidam deities, I present this sang offering:

ཐུགས་རྗེས་གཞན་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་པའི་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

tukjé zhen gyü minpé ngödrub tsol

Confer the attainment of ripening others’ minds through compassion.

 

ཕྱོགས་བཅུའི་སངས་རྒྱས་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

chok chü sangye nam la sang chö bul

To the buddhas of the ten directions, I present this sang offering:

རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ཐབས་ལ་མཁས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས། །

tendrel tab la khepar jingyi lob

Inspire me to be skilful in the methods of interdependence.

 

བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

changchub sempa nam la sang chö bul

To the bodhisattvas, I present this sang offering:

འབྲེལ་ཚད་དོན་དང་ལྡན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས། །

dreltsé dön dang denpar jingyi lob

Bless me so that all my connections may prove meaningful.

 

འཕགས་པ་ཉན་རང་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

pakpa nyenrang nam la sang chö bul

To the noble śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas, I present this sang offering:

སངས་རྒྱས་བསྟན་པ་འཛིན་སྐྱོང་སྤེལ་བར་མཛོད། །

sangye tenpa dzin kyong pelwar dzö

Uphold, preserve and and spread the teachings of the Buddha.

 

དཔའ་བོ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

pawo khandro nam la sang chö bul

To the vīras and ḍākinīs, I present this sang offering:

བསྟན་འཛིན་སྐྱེས་བུའི་འཕྲིན་ལས་སྒྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །

tendzin kyebü trinlé drubpar dzö

Contribute to the activity of those who uphold the teachings.

 

ཆོས་སྐྱོང་སྲུང་མ་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

chökyong sungma nam la sang chö bul

To the dharma protectors and guardians, I present this sang offering:

རྣལ་འབྱོར་བདག་ཅག་བུ་བཞིན་སྐྱོང་བར་མཛོད། །

naljor dakchak bu zhin kyongwar dzö

Care for us practitioners as if we were your very own children.

 

ལྷ་ཀླུ་སྡེ་བརྒྱད་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

lha lu dé gyé nam la sang chö bul

To the eight classes—gods, nāgas, and the rest—I present this sang offering:

བཅོལ་བའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཐོགས་མེད་སྒྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །

cholwé trinlé tokmé drubpar dzö

Carry out without obstruction the activities with which you are entrusted.

 

ཡུལ་ལྷ་གཞི་བདག་རྣམས་ལ་བསང་མཆོད་འབུལ། །

yullha zhidak nam la sang chö bul

To the local deities and earth lords, I present this sang offering:

བར་ཆད་ཀུན་སོལ་བསམ་དོན་འགྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །

barché kün sol samdön drubpar dzö

Dispel all obstacles and cause my aspirations to be fulfilled.

 

ལྷ་དང་མི་ལ་མི་གཙང་གྲིབ་ཕོག་པ། །

lha dang mi la mi tsang drib pokpa

Let all impurity and contamination among gods and human beings

བསང་ངོ་དག་བྱེད་བསང་གི་དུད་པས་བསང་། །

sang ngo dak jé sang gi düpé sang

Be cleansed, cleared away by the purifying smoke of the sang.

མུན་ལ་ཉི་མ་ཤར་བཞིན་དག་གྱུར་ནས། །

mün la nyima shar zhin dak gyur né

And once all is made pure, like darkness banished by the rising sun,

གངས་ཀྱི་རི་བོ་བཞིན་དུ་གསལ་བར་ཤོག །

gang kyi riwo zhindu salwar shok

May everything become as radiant as the peaks of snow mountains.

 

མ་རིག་དབང་གིས་ནོངས་པ་ཅི་མཆིས་པ། །

marik wang gi nongpa chichi pa

Whatever errors we’ve committed under the sway of ignorance,

བཟོད་པར་བཞེས་ལ་རང་རང་གནས་སུ་གཤེགས། །

zöpar zhé la rang rangné su shek

Please forgive them, and return to your individual abodes.

བསམ་དོན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཆོས་བཞིན་འགྲུབ་པ་དང་། །

samdön tamché chö zhin drubpa dang

Let all our wishes in accordance with the Dharma be fulfilled,

དགེ་ལེགས་རྒྱུན་མི་འཆད་པའི་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཤོག །

gelek gyün mi chepé tashi shok

And all be auspicious, that virtue and excellence never cease.

 

ཅེས་བསང་མཆོད་ཉུང་འདུས་འདི་ཡང་བྱ་བཏང་ཚོགས་དྲུག་རང་གྲོལ་གྱིས་ལ་ཕྱི་ནས་སྨྲས་པའོ།།

This brief sang offering was composed by the renunciate Tsokdruk Rangdrol at Lapchi.
