Vision-Restoring Avalokiteśvara
༄༅༔ ༔ཡང་གསང་ཐུགས་ཐིག་ཆ་ལག་ལས༔ འགྲོ་དོན་ཕྱག་ན་པདྨ་ཡི༔ གསལ་བྱེད་གདམས་པ་ཟབ་མོ་ནི༔
A Profound Instruction on Enhancing Vision Through Padmapāṇi, Aider of Beings
from the Supplements to the Ultra Secret Heart-Essence (Yangsang Tuktik)

ཧྲཱིཿ རང་རིག་སྐད་ཅིག་དྲན་རྫོགས་སུ༔
hrih, rangrig kechik dren dzok su
Hrīḥ. My awareness becomes Avalokiteśvara, embodiment of compassion,
པད་དཀར་ཉི་མ་ཟླ་བའི་གདན༔
pekar nyima dawé den
Upon seats of white lotus, sun and moon,
སྙིང་རྗེའི་རང་གཟུགས་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས༔
nyingjé rang zuk chenrezik
Perfect in the instant of recollection.
དྲི་མེད་དུང་མདོག་ཞལ་གཅིག་ཞི༔
drimé dung dok zhal chik zhi
He is pure white like a conch and has one serene face.
ཕྱག་གཉིས་ཐལ་སྦྱར་མིག་འབྱེད་ཀྱི༔
chak nyi taljar mik jé kyi
His two hands, joined together, hold a jewel
ནོར་བུ་བསྣམ་ཞིང་འོད་ཟེར་འཕྲོ༔
norbu nam zhing özer tro
That restores vision, as he emanates rays of light.
ཞབས་གཉིས་སྐྱིལ་མོ་ཀྲུང་གིས་བཞུགས༔
zhab nyi kyilmo trung gi zhuk
He is seated with his two legs crossed
རིན་ཆེན་རྒྱན་ལྡན་དར་གོས་གསོལ༔
rinchen gyenden dar gö sol
And wears jewelled ornaments and silken clothes.
སྤྱི་གཙུག་སྣང་བ་མཐའ་ཡས་ཀྱི༔
chitsuk nangwa tayé kyi
At his crown is Amitābha, 'Boundless Light',
ཕྱག་གི་བུམ་པའི་ཆུ་རྒྱུན་གྱིས༔
chak gi bumpé chugyün gyi
Who holds a vase from which cleansing water flows,
ཁྲུས་མཛད་བདག་དང་ལྷ་སྲུང་གི༔
trü dzé dak dang lhasung gi
Washing away all impurities and contaminating influences—
མི་གཙང་ཉམས་གྲིབ་ཀུན་སྦྱང་བཀྲུས༔
mi tsang nyamdrib kün jang trü
My own and those of my protective spirits.
ཐུགས་ཀར་ཟླ་སྟེང་ཧྲཱིཿ་ཡིག་མཐར༔
tukkar da teng hrih yik tar
At the deity’s heart, upon a moon disc, is a syllable hrīḥ,
སྔགས་ཀྱིས་བསྐོར་བའི་འོད་བྱིན་རླབས༔
ngak kyi korwé ö jinlab
Surrounded by the mantra, which radiates light and blessings
ཡིད་བཞིན་ནོར་བུའི་ནུས་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས༔
yizhin norbü nü tob kyi
With all the power and force of a wish-granting jewel.
ནད་གདོན་མི་གཙང་གྲིབ་རྐྱེན་ལས༔
nedön mi tsang drib kyen lé
This dispels all obscurations and defects of eyesight
མིག་སྐྱོན་སྒྲིབ་བྱེད་ཀུན་བསལ་ནས༔
mik kyön drib jé kün sal né
Caused by illness, harmful influences, impurities or defilement,
རྣོ་གསལ་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྤྱན་རྒྱས་པར༔
no sal yeshe chen gyepar
And opens wide the eyes of wisdom, clear and sharp.
བྱིན་རློབས་བླ་མ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས༔
jin lob lama chenrezik
Grant your blessings, O guru Avalokiteśvara!
ཨོཾ་པདྨེ་པདྨེ་མ་ཎི་ཙཀྵུ་མེ་ཊ་ཤ་ཏྲཱུ་ན་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ༔
om padmé padmé mani tsakshu méta shatru nayé soha
oṃ padme padme maṇi cakṣu meṭa śatrunaye svāhā
ཅི་ནུས་བཟླ་ཞིང་མིག་དྲོད་གསོ༔
Recite this as many times as possible and your vision will be restored.
ཐོ་རངས་དུས་སུ་སྔགས་ཆུ་བྱུག༔
At dawn, apply water that has been blessed with the mantra.
མིག་འབྱེད་གདམས་པ་མང་མོད་ཀྱང་༔
འདི་ལས་ཟབ་པ་ཡོད་རེ་ཀན༔
There are many instructions for restoring vision,
But it would be hard to find one more profound than this.
ཁྲག་འཐུང་དཔའ་བོའི་ཁྱད་ཆོས་སོ༔ ས་མ་ཡ༔
