Prayer to Amitāyus

འཇིག་རྟེན་འདྲེན་པའི་གཙོ་བོ་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད། །

jikten drenpé tsowo tsepakmé

Infinite Life, foremost guide for beings in this world,

དུས་མིན་འཆི་བ་མ་ལུས་འཇོམས་མཛད་པ། །

dümin chiwa malü jom dzepa

You are the one who overcomes all untimely death,

མགོན་མེད་སྡུག་བསྔལ་གྱུར་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་སྐྱབས། །

gönmé dukngal gyurpa nam kyi kyab

A refuge for those who suffer without protection—

སངས་རྒྱས་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །

sangye tsepakmé la chaktsal tö

Buddha Amitāyus, homage and praise to you!

ཀུན་ནས་ཀུན་ཏུ་འོད་ཟེར་རབ་འབར་ཞིང་། །

künné küntu özer rab bar zhing

Everywhere ablaze with everlasting radiance,

ཚེ་དང་ཡེ་ཤེས་དཔག་མེད་སྩོལ་མཛད་པ། །

tsé dang yeshe pakmé tsol dzepa

You bestow boundless life and boundless wisdom.

དྲན་པས་དུས་མིན་འཆི་བའི་འཇིགས་པ་འཇོམས། །

drenpé dümin chiwé jikpa jom

The thought of you dispels the fear of untimely death.

བཅོམ་ལྡན་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །

chomden tsepakmé la chaktsal tö

Bhagavān Amitāyus, homage and praise to you!

ཁྱོད་སྐུ་པདྨ་རཱ་གའི་ལྷུན་པོ་ལ། །

khyö ku pema ragé lhünpo la

Your form is resplendent, like a mountain of ruby

ཉིན་བྱེད་སྟོང་གིས་འཁྱུད་པའི་གཟི་བརྗིད་ཅན། །

nyinjé tong gi khyüpé ziji chen

Held in the light of a thousand suns,

མཚན་དང་དཔེ་བྱད་མེ་ཏོག་རྣམ་པར་བཀྲ། །

tsen dang pejé metok nampar tra

And strewn with the vivid flowers of the signs and marks.

སྣང་མཐའ་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །

nangta tsepakmé la chaktsal tö

Amitāyus of Boundless Light, homage and praise to you!

གསུང་དབྱངས་ཡན་ལག་དྲུག་ཅུའི་སྒྲ་སྒྲོགས་ཤིང་། །

sung yang yenlak drukchü dra drok shing

Your speech resounds with sixty melodious tones,

མཐའ་ཡས་ཞིང་ན་གསུང་གཅིག་གིས་ཁྱབ་པ། །

tayé zhing na sung chik gi khyabpa

A single voice extending through infinite realms.

ཟད་མི་ཤེས་པའི་གསུང་མཐའ་ཡས་པའི་བདག །

zé mishepé sung tayepé dak

Master of limitless and inexhaustible discourse,

གསུང་གི་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཚེ་མཐའ་ཡས་ལ་བསྟོད། །

sung gi dorjé tsé tayé la tö

Amitāyus of Vajra Speech, to you I offer praise.

ཏིང་འཛིན་རྒྱ་མཚོར་འཇུག་ཅིང་ལྡང་བ་དང་། །

tingdzin gyatsor juk ching dangwa dang

You enter and arise from an ocean of samādhi,

སྟོབས་བཅུའི་དབང་ཕྱུག་སྒྲིབ་པ་ཀུན་ལས་གྲོལ། །

tob chü wangchuk dribpa kün lé drol

Master of the ten powers freed from every veil,

ཡེ་ཤེས་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ལྷུན་གྱིས་གྲུབ་པ་ཡི། །

yeshe gyatso lhüngyi drubpa yi

Your oceanic wisdom spontaneously present,

མགོན་པོ་འོད་སྣང་ཕ་མཐའ་ཡས་ལ་བསྟོད། །

gönpo önang pata yé la tö

Lord of Boundless Radiance, to you I offer praise.

ཞིང་དང་གཞལ་ཡས་བཀོད་པ་མཐའ་ཡས་ཤིང་། །

zhing dang zhalyé köpa tayé shing

In immense palaces within infinite realms you preside

ཕྱོགས་བཅུའི་རྒྱལ་དང་དེ་སྲས་ཚོགས་ཀྱིས་དབུས། །

chok chü gyal dang dé sé tsok kyi ü

Amidst the buddhas and their heirs from every direction,

ལྷན་ཅིག་ཐེག་ཆེན་ཆོས་ལ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་ཅིང་། །

lhenchik tekchen chö la longchö ching

As you savour together the Dharma of the Great Vehicle.

རིན་ཆེན་གཟི་བརྗིད་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །

rinchen ziji gyalpo khyö la tö

King of Jewel-like Brilliance, to you I offer praise.

ཕྲིན་ལས་འཛད་མེད་ནམ་མཁའི་མཐའ་དང་མཉམ། །

trinlé dzemé namkhé ta dang nyam

Your activity is unending, equal to space itself,

གདུལ་བྱ་རྒྱ་མཚོ་སྨིན་ཅིང་གྲོལ་བར་མཛད། །

dulja gyatso min ching drolwar dzé

You ripen and liberate oceans of disciples.

རྣམ་འཕྲུལ་མཐའ་ཡས་བདེ་ལྡན་ཞིང་གི་མགོན། །

namtrul tayé deden zhing gi gön

Your emanations are limitless, lord of the blissful realm,

མཛད་པ་དཔག་མེད་ཚེ་མཐའ་ཡས་ལ་བསྟོད།

dzepa pakmé tsé tayé la tö

Amitāyus of Infinite Deeds, to you I offer praise.

དེ་ལྟར་བསྟོད་པས་དུས་མིན་འཆི་བ་ཞི། །

detar töpé dümin chiwa zhi

Through praising you in this way, may untimely death be pacified,

སྒོ་གསུམ་རྡོ་རྗེ་གསུམ་དུ་རབ་གྲུབ་ནས། །

go sum dorjé sum du rab drub né

And, having fully actualized the three doors as the three vajras,

ཚེ་སྲོག་མི་ཤིག་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ལྕགས་སྡོང་ཚུགས། །

tsesok mi shik dorjé chak dong tsuk

May I plant the iron tree of indestructible, vajra-like vitality

རྡོ་རྗེ་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་མགོན་འགྲུབ་པར་ཤོག །

dorjé tsepakmé gön drubpar shok

And attain the level of the protector Vajra Amitāyus.

ཅེས་པའང་ཚེ་སྒྲུབ་ལྕགས་སྡོང་བསྙེན་པ་གྲུབ་པའི་ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་ཟླ་བའི་ཚེས་བཅུ་ལ་སྨོན་པའོ།། །།

This aspiration was made on the tenth day of the Month of Miracles when completing the recitation for the Iron Tree longevity practice.
