Mountain of Freshest Saffron: A Long-Life Prayer¹

ཨོཾ་སྭསྟི།

om svasti

Oṃ svasti.

གུར་གུམ་གསར་པའི་ལྷུན་པོ་ལྟར་མཛེས་ཤིང་། །

gurgum sarpé lhünpo tar dzé shing

Beautiful as a mountain of freshest saffron, you

མི་ཤེས་གཅོད་མཛད་སྔོ་སངས་རལ་གྲིས་མཚན། །

mi shé chö dzé ngo sang raldri tsen

Hold the blue sword that cuts through unknowing

ཟབ་དོན་གླེགས་བམ་ཨུཏྤལ་ཟེ་འབྲུར་མཛེས། །

zab dön lekbam utpal zé drur dzé

And the profound volume upon the bed of a blue lotus—

བླ་མ་འཇམ་པའི་དབྱངས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

lama jampé yang la solwa deb

Guru Mañjughoṣa, to you I pray.

ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཐུབ་པའི་བསྟན་པ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། །

künkhyen tubpé tenpa rinpoche

Holder of the omniscient Sage’s precious teachings,

མདོ་སྔགས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་མཛོད་ཆེན་འཛིན་པ་ཡི། །

do ngak chö kyi dzö chen dzinpa yi

The great treasury of sūtra and mantra Dharma,

སྙན་པའི་གྲགས་པས་འཛིན་མའི་ཁྱོན་ཀུན་ཁྱབ། །

nyenpé drakpé dzinmé khyön künkhyab

Your fame and reputation extend throughout the world,

བློ་གྲོས་ཆེན་པོ་ཞབས་པད་བརྟན་བཞུགས་གསོལ། །

lodrö chenpo zhabpé tenzhuk sol

Great intelligent one, Lodrö, may your life remain secure.

དེ་ལྟར་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པའི་བདེན་མཐུ་ཡིས། །

detar solwa tabpé den tu yi

Through the power and truth of praying in this way,

རྗེ་བཙུན་བླ་མའི་ཞབས་པད་ཡུན་དུ་བརྟན། །

jetsün lamé zhabpé yündu ten

May the venerable guru’s life long remain secure,

འཇིག་རྟེན་དུས་ཀྱི་རྒུད་པ་ཀུན་ཞི་ནས། །

jikten dü kyi güpa kün zhi né

May all the ills of this age be healed throughout the world,

བསྟན་དང་དེ་འཛིན་དར་རྒྱས་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཤོག །

ten dang dé dzin dargyé tashi shok

And may all be auspicious, so that the teachings and those who uphold them may flourish and thrive.
