Truthful Words to Bring Immortality

A Prayer for the Long Life of Choktrul Rinpoche, Emanation of the Great Treasure-Revealing Guru

by Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö

om svasti

Oṃ svasti.

pemé gyaltsab chokgyur lingpa yi

Single embodiment of the body, speech, mind, qualities and activity

ku sung tuk yön trinlé chikdü pa

Of Chokgyur Lingpa, representative of Padma,

gyurmé dorjé rang zuk lama chok

Supreme guru, the very embodiment of the changeless vajra,

kal gyar tsozhé chökhor kor du sol

I pray that you may live and turn the Dharma Wheel for a hundred aeons.

gyalten chi dang ngé sang dorjé tek

You who cause the sun-like general teachings of the Victorious One

ösal nyingpö tenpa nyinmor jé

And the luminous essence of the definitively secret Vajra Vehicle

shé dang drubpé chok tu pel dzepa

To flourish supremely through explanation and through practice,

palden lamé zhabpé yünten shok

Glorious guru, may your lotus feet remain forever secure.

dak kyang deng né changchub nyingpö bar

For me, from now until I reach the essence of awakening,

palden lama pema küntu chang

May I never be apart from the glorious guru,

rik kündüpé daknyi chenpo dang

Eternal lotus-holder, great embodiment of all buddha families,

mindral dön nyi sampa lhündrub shok

And may our wishes and the twofold benefit be spontaneously accomplished.

Thus, Jamyang Lodrö Gyatso, one who prays with intense faith and devotion, wrote this by the light of an āloka1 on the tenth day of the Kṛttikā (tenth) month of the Wood Ox year2 in the great dharma centre to the south of Namkha Dzö, the delightful place of the arhats.3 May this become a cause for all to enjoy the pleasure of twofold attainment.
