Prayer for the Long Life of Riké Chatral¹

om svasti

Oṃ svasti.

འཆི་མེད་གྲུབ་པ་པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས་དང་། །

chimé drubpa pema jungné dang

Deathless siddha Padmākara,

འཆི་མེད་རིག་འཛིན་ཐང་སྟོང་རྒྱལ་པོ་སོགས། །

chimé rigdzin tangtong gyalpo sok

Deathless vidyādharas Tangtong Gyalpo and the rest,

འཆི་མེད་གྲུབ་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་བདེན་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས། །

chimé drubpa nam kyi den tob kyi

Deathless adepts, too, through your truth and power,

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མའི་སྐུ་ཚེའི་བར་ཆད་སོལ། །

palden lamé kutsé barché sol

May any obstacles to this glorious guru’s life be dispelled.

མི་ཤིགས་རྡོ་རྗེའི་གུར་དུ་ཚུད་པ་དང་། །

mishik dorjé gur du tsüpa dang

Unbreakable, having entered the protective vajra dome,

མི་འགྱུར་ཚེ་ཡི་སྲོག་རྩ་རབ་ཏུ་བརྟན། །

mingyur tsé yi soktsa rabtu ten

Unchanging, with the vital channel perfectly steadfast,

མི་འཆི་ཚེ་ཡི་དངོས་གྲུབ་རབ་ཐོབ་ནས། །

mi chi tsé yi ngödrub rab tob né

Undying, having gained the siddhi of longevity, and

མི་ཕམ་གཞོམ་མེད་རྡོ་རྗེར་བརྟན་བཞུགས་གསོལ། །

mipam zhommé dorjér tenzhuk sol

Unshakeable—may you remain, I pray, in vajra indestructibility.

སྐུ་ནི་བརྩོན་འགྲུས་བཟང་པོ་ལྟར་བརྟན་ཅིང་། །

ku ni tsöndrü zangpo tar ten ching

With your body as enduring as that of Tsöndrü Zangpo,²

གསུང་ནི་འགགས་མེད་སྙན་བརྒྱུད་ཆོས་སྒྲ་སྒྲོགས། །

sung ni gakmé nyengyü chö dra drok

Your speech unceasingly proclaiming the Dharma of the whispered transmission,³

ཐུགས་ནི་འོད་གསལ་དགོངས་པའི་རྩལ་འབར་ཏེ། །

tuk ni ösal gongpé tsal bar té

And your mind ablaze with the powerful realization of luminosity,

ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཕྱོགས་བཅུར་རྒྱས་བཞུགས་གསོལ། །

lhündrub trinlé chok chur gyé zhuk sol

May you remain, your spontaneous activity flourishing throughout the ten directions.

ཅེས་བརྟན་བཞུགས་སྨོན་ཚིག་དང་སྤྲེལ་བཀྲ་ཤིས་པའི་ལྷ་རེག་དྲི་བྲལ། འཆི་མེད་ཚེའི་བཅུད་ལེན་རིལ་བུ། འཆི་མེད་འཕགས་མའི་སྐུ་གསུང་ཐུགས་དང་དབྱེར་མེད་མཚོན་བྱེད་སྒྲོལ་དཀར་དངུལ་སྐུ་བཅས་འཇམ་དབྱངས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་པས་ཕུལ་བ་དགེའོ།། །།

Together with these words of aspiration for longevity, Jamyang Chökyi Lodrö offered an immaculate silken scarf of auspiciousness, 'extracting-the-vital-essence' pills of immortal life, and a silver image of White Tārā to symbolize inseparability from the enlightened body, speech and mind of the Sublime Lady of Deathlessness. May it prove virtuous!
