ན་མོ་པདྨ་ཀཱ་ར་ཡེ༔

Namo padmākaraye!

བརྒྱུད་གསུམ་རིག་འཛིན་བླ་མར་གུས་པས་འདུད༔

In devotion, I bow before the vidyādhara gurus of the three transmissions.

མ་འོངས་པདྨ་བདག་གི་རྗེས་འཇུག་ནི༔ སྐལ་ལྡན་ལས་འཕྲོ་ལྡན་པ་རེ་མཆིས་ན༔ ཐར་ལམ་འཇུག་ངོགས་རྣམ་གྲོལ་ཐེམ་སྐས་མཆོག༔ ཟབ་ལམ་བླ་མའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་འདི་རུ་བསྟན༔ དུས་དྲུག་ཆག་མེད་ཉམས་སུ་བླངས་གྱུར་ན༔ ཚེ་འདིར་ཡང་དག་ངེས་པའི་ལམ་མཆོག་ཐོབ༔ དེ་ཕྱིར་སྐལ་བར་ལྡན་པས་ཉམས་སུ་ལོངས༔ ས་མ་ཡ༔

If, in future, I, Padma, should have followers who are fortunate and possess a karmic connection, the entrance to the path to freedom, the supreme stairway to liberation, will be revealed in the form of this profound path of guru yoga. If such followers should then practise it uninterruptedly at the six times of day they will attain the genuine, definitive and supreme path. Put this into practice, therefore, fortunate ones! Samaya.

དང་པོ་རང་བློ་ཆོས་ལ་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར༔ 
སྒོ་གསུམ་མི་ཕྱེད་དད་པ་དྲག་པོ་ཡིས༔ 
རང་ཉིད་ཐ་མལ་གནས་པའི་མདུན་མཁའ་རུ༔ 
སྐྱབས་གནས་རྒྱལ་བ་ཀུན་འདུས་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད༔ 
དྲིན་ཅན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ་བཞུགས་པར་མོས༔

First, so as to turn your mind to the Dharma,
With intense, unwavering devotion in body, speech and mind,
Consider that you remain in your ordinary form while in the sky before you
Your own gracious root guru appears
As the embodiment of all victorious ones and sources of refuge.

Invoking the Guru’s Wisdom Mind

སྙིང་ནས་གསོལ་འདེབས་ཐུགས་རྒྱུད་བསྐུལ་བ་ནི༔

Then, pray as follows from the depths of your heart in order to invoke the guru's wisdom mind:

ན་མོ༔ དུས་གསུམ་རྒྱལ་བ་སྲས་བཅས་ཡོངས་འདུས་དཔལ༔

namo, dü sum gyalwa sé ché yongdü pal

Namo. Glorious embodiment of all victorious ones and their heirs throughout the past, present and future,

བཀའ་དྲིན་འཁོར་མེད་བླ་མ་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང༔

kadrin khormé lama dorjé chang

Guru Vajradhara whose kindness is unrepayable,

སྙིང་ནས་རྩེ་གཅིག་དད་པས་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས༔

nying né tsechik depé solwa deb

With one-pointed and heartfelt faith, I pray to you.

བདག་ཅག་རྗེས་འཇུག་རྗེས་འབྲང་སློབ་བུ་རྣམས༔

dakchak jejuk jé drang lob bu nam

Should you forsake us—your followers, students and disciples—

ཐུགས་རྗེས་ཡལ་བར་དོར་ན་སུ་ལ་རེ༔

tukjé yalwar dor na su la ré

And turn away your compassion, who then could we turn to?

འཁོར་བ་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དྲག་པོའི་ཁྲི་མུན་ལས༔

khorwa dukngal drakpö trimün lé

Left to our own devices, there is no chance to escape

བདག་ཅག་མཐུ་ཡིས་ཐར་བའི་སྐབས་མ་མཆིས༔

dakchak tu yi tarwé kab ma chi

The dungeon of intense suffering that is saṃsāra.

མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་ནུས་པའི་དབང་ཕྱུག་ཁྱོད་དྲན་གྱིས༔

khyen tsé nü pé wangchuk khyö dren gyi

As I think of you, master of knowledge, love and power,

མི་མངོན་དབྱིངས་ནས་ཐུགས་རྗེའི་སྤྱན་གྱིས་གཟིགས༔

mi ngön ying né tukjé chen gyi zik

Look upon me from the unmanifest realm with eyes of compassion!

ལམ་གོལ་དམན་པའི་དབང་དུ་མ་གཏོང་བར༔

lamgol menpé wang du ma tongwar

Keep me from straying onto lesser paths

བློ་སྣ་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་ལ་བསྒྱུར་དུ་གསོལ༔

lona dampé chö la gyur du sol

And turn my mind toward the sacred Dharma, I pray!

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བླ་མ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ༔

solwa deb so lama rinpoche

To you I pray, O precious guru,

བདག་རྒྱུད་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབ་པར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ༔

dak gyü jingyi lab par dzé du sol

Inspire me with your blessings!

ཞེས་སྙིང་ཐག་པ་ནས་བླ་མ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་ཕུར་ཚུགས་སུ་གདབ༔

Pray fervently and from the depths of your heart in this way.

Prayer

མཐར་ཆོས་ལམ་དུ་འགྲོ་ཕྱིར་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་པ་ནི༔

Then continue with the following prayer to progress along the Dharma path:

མཁྱེན་ནོ་མཁྱེན་ནོ་བླ་མ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

khyen no khyen no lama dé khyen no

Care for me! Care for me! O guru, care for me!

རིགས་ཀུན་ཡོངས་འདུས་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

rik kün yongdü drinchen lama khyen no

Gracious guru, embodiment of all buddha families, care for me!

དལ་འབྱོར་སྙིང་པོ་ལོན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

daljor nyingpo lönpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to make the most of this free and well-favoured human form!

རིགས་ཀུན་ཡོངས་འདུས་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

rik kün yongdü drinchen lama khyen no

Gracious guru, embodiment of all buddha families, care for me!

འཆི་བ་སྙིང་ནས་དྲན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

chiwa nying né drenpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to maintain a heartfelt recollection of death!

རིགས་ཀུན་ཡོངས་འདུས་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

rik kün yongdü drinchen lama khyen no

Gracious guru, embodiment of all buddha families, care for me!

འཁོར་བར་ཞེན་པ་ཆོད་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

khorwar zhenpa chöpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to sever my attachment to saṃsāra!

རིགས་ཀུན་ཡོངས་འདུས་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

rik kün yongdü drinchen lama khyen no

Gracious guru, embodiment of all buddha families, care for me!

ལས་འབྲས་བླང་དོར་ནུས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

lé dré langdor nüpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me with to adopt and avoid actions according to their effects!

རིགས་ཀུན་ཡོངས་འདུས་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

rik kün yongdü drinchen lama khyen no

Gracious guru, embodiment of all buddha families, care for me!

ངེས་འབྱུང་རྒྱུད་ལ་བརྟེན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

ngejung gyü la tenpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to develop a mind of renunciation!

འཁོར་བར་རྒྱབ་ཀྱིས་ཕྱོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

khorwar gyab kyi chokpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to turn my back on saṃsāra!

ངེས་མེད་དབེན་ཁྲོད་ཟིན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

ngemé wentrö zinpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to keep to undefined locations and solitary retreats!

འགྱུར་མེད་མོས་གུས་བརྟན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

gyurmé mögü tenpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to find stable, unchanging devotion!

འབྲལ་མེད་བླ་མ་དྲན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

dralmé lama drenpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to remember the guru constantly!

ཟོལ་མེད་དམ་ཆོས་འགྲུབ་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

zolmé damchö drubpar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me to practise the sacred Dharma sincerely without deception!

ཅིར་སྣང་ཆོས་སྐུར་འཆར་བར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

chir nang chökur charwar jingyi lob shik

Inspire me so that all perceptions dawn as dharmakāya!

ད་ལྟ་ཉིད་དུ་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག༔

danta nyi du jingyi lob shik

Inspire me with your blessings, here and now!

མྱུར་བ་ཉིད་དུ་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབ་ཏུ་གསོལ༔

nyurwa nyi du jingyi lab tu sol

Swiftly inspire me with your blessings, I pray!

 

Taking Refuge

ན་མོ༔ གཏན་གྱི་མགོན་པོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་རྣམ་གསུམ་ལ༔

namo, ten gyi gönpo könchok nam sum la

Namo. In the constant guardian and Three Jewels,

བདག་སོགས་འགྲོ་ཀུན་གུས་པས་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆི༔

dak sok dro kün güpé kyab su chi

I and all beings take refuge with devotion.

བྱང་ཆུབ་སྙིང་པོའི་བར་དུ་བསྐྱབ་ཏུ་གསོལ༔

changchub nyingpö bardu kyab tu sol

Protect us until we attain the essence of enlightenment.

རེ་ས་གཞན་ན་མེད་དོ་ཐུགས་རྗེས་ཟུངས༔

resa zhen na mé do tukjé zung

We have no other hope but you! Hold us with compassion!

 

Generating Bodhicitta

ཧོཿ མ་གྱུར་འགྲོ་བ་སེམས་ཅན་ཀུན་དོན་དུ༔

ho, magyur drowa semchen kün dön du

Ho. For the sake of all sentient beings, my own past mothers,

བླ་མེད་བྱང་ཆུབ་ལམ་ལ་རབ་ཞུགས་ནས༔

lamé changchub lam la rab zhuk né

I have set out on the path to unsurpassed awakening,

འགྲོ་རྣམས་གཏན་བདེ་འཐོབ་ཕྱིར་སེམས་བསྐྱེད་དེ༔

dro nam ten dé tob chir semkyé dé

And now, to bring all beings to lasting happiness, I generate bodhicitta.

འཁོར་བ་དོང་སྤྲུགས་ནུས་པའི་དཔལ་ཐོབ་ཤོག༔

khorwa dongtruk nüpé pal tob shok

May I gain the glorious capacity to stir saṃsāra from its very depths!

 

Maṇḍala Offering

སྣང་སྲིད་དཔལ་ཡོན་བསོད་ནམས་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དང༔

nangsi palyön sönam longchö dang

The splendours and riches of apparent existence, my merits and possessions,

བདག་ལུས་ཕུང་ཁམས་བདོག་པའི་དངོས་ཀུན་གང༔

dak lü pung kham dokpé ngö kün gang

My own body with its aggregates and elements and all that I own,

གསང་བ་རིག་སྟོང་ཆོས་སྐུའི་བཀོད་པ་རྣམས༔

sangwa riktong chökü köpa nam

Together with the secret dharmakāya array of awareness-emptiness—

བློ་ཡིས་བླངས་ཏེ་རྒྱལ་བ་རྣམས་ལ་འབུལ༔

lo yi lang té gyalwa nam la bul

All this I bring to mind and offer to the victorious ones.

འགྲོ་ཀུན་བསོད་ནམས་ཚོགས་གཉིས་རབ་རྫོགས་ནས༔

dro kün sönam tsok nyi rabdzok né

May all beings perfect the accumulation of merit and wisdom,

སྐུ་གསུམ་དག་པའི་ཞིང་ལ་སྤྱོད་པར་ཤོག༔

ku sum dakpé zhing la chöpar shok

And enjoy the purelands of the three kāyas!

 

Visualization

དེ་ནས་ལམ་འཁྲུལ་པ་ཞིག་ཕྱིར་གཞི་དུས་ཀྱི་དབང་བླ་མ་སྒོམ་པ་ནི༔

Then, in order to overcome delusion on the path, there is the ground-stage meditation on the guru:

ཨཱཿ རང་སྣང་རྣམ་པར་དག་པའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་སུ༔

ah, rangnang nampar dakpé zhingkham su

Āḥ. In the spontaneously appearing realm of utter purity,

རང་ཉིད་གཞི་ལུས་རྡོ་རྗེ་རྣལ་འབྱོར་མ༔

rangnyi zhilü dorjé naljorma

My own body is Vajrayoginī,

རྣམ་ཀུན་མཆོག་ལྡན་ཡེ་ཤེས་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་སྐུ༔

namkün chokden yeshe tsogyal ku

Appearing as Yeshe Tsogyal, supreme in every aspect.

དཀར་གསལ་ཞལ་གཅིག་ཕྱག་གཉིས་གྲི་ཐོད་འཛིན༔

karsal zhal chik chak nyi dri tö dzin

She is brilliant white, with one face and two hands holding knife and skullcup,

སྤྱན་གསུམ་མཁར་གཟིགས་་ཞི་ཚུལ་ལང་ཚོ་ལྡན༔

chen sum khar zik zhi tsul langtso den

Her three eyes gaze into space, and she is calm and youthful.

ཞབས་གཉིས་འདོར་སྟབས་པད་ཉི་ཟླ་གདན་འགྱིང༔

zhab nyi dortab pé nyi da den gying

Her two feet are gracefully poised as she stands on a lotus and seats of sun and moon.

དབུ་སྐྲ་ཐོར་ཅོག་ཟར་བུ་སྐུ་རྒྱབ་གྲོལ༔

utra tor chok zarbu kugyab drol

Some of her hair is tied up; the rest falls loosely behind.

རིན་ཆེན་རྩེ་བྲན་སྙན་ཆ་འོད་དུ་འབར༔

rinchen tsedren nyencha ö du bar

Her jewelled crown ornaments and earrings sparkle and glisten.

སྐུ་ལ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་ཆས་རྣམས་མ་ལུས་རྫོགས༔

ku la khandrö ché nam malü dzok

She has all the adornments of a ḍākinī on her body.

སྣང་ལ་རང་བཞིན་མེད་པར་གསལ་བ་ཡི༔

nang la rangzhin mepar salwa yi

And although she appears clearly, she is insubstantial.

སྤྱི་བོར་མ་ཆགས་པདྨ་ཉི་ཟླའི་སྟེང༔

chiwor ma chak pema nyidé teng

Above my head, upon a lotus of non-attachment, sun and moon,

ཡེ་ཤེས་འོད་ལྔའི་ཐིག་ལེ་འཁྲིགས་པའི་ཀློང༔

yeshe ö ngé tiklé trikpé long

Amidst a shimmering expanse of five-coloured wisdom light,

ངོ་བོ་དྲིན་ཆེན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ་ནི༔

ngowo drinchen tsawé lama ni

Is my gracious root guru

རྣམ་པ་ཨོ་རྒྱན་མཚོ་སྐྱེས་སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྐུ༔

nampa orgyen tsokyé trulpé ku

In the nirmāṇakāya form of the Lake-born Guru of Oḍḍiyāna—

དཀར་དམར་མདངས་ལྡན་གཞོན་ནུའི་ལང་ཚོ་ཅན༔

kar mar dangden zhönnü langtso chen

White with a tinge of red and glowing with youthful vigour.

ཞལ་གཅིག་ཕྱག་གཉིས་རྡོ་རྗེ་བུམ་ཐོད་འཛིན༔

zhal chik chak nyi dorjé bum tö dzin

He has one face and two hands, holding a vajra and skullcup containing a vase.

དབུ་ལ་པད་ཞྭ་མཐོང་གྲོལ་དར་སྣས་བརྒྱན༔

u la pé zha tongdrol darné gyen

On his head he wears the lotus-hat that liberates upon sight, ornamented with coloured silk.

སྐུ་ལ་ཕོད་ཀ་ཟབ་བེར་འདུང་མ་དང་༔

ku la pöka zab ber dungma dang

He is beautifully dressed in a gown and brocade cloak,

ཐང་ཤམ་ཆོས་གོས་རྣམ་གསུམ་མཛེས་པར་གསོལ༔

tang sham chögö nam sum dzepar sol

A lower garment and the three types of monastic robe,

རིན་ཆེན་སྣ་ཚོགས་སྙན་ཆ་མགུལ་རྒྱན་འཆང༔

rinchen natsok nyencha gulgyen chang

And has a necklace and earrings studded with various jewels.

མཆན་གཡོན་གསང་ཡུམ་སྦས་ཚུལ་ཁ་ཊྭཱཾ་བརྟེན༔

chen yön sang yum bé tsul khatam ten

Cradled in his left arm is the secret consort concealed in the form of a khaṭvāṅga.

ཞབས་གཉིས་རྒྱལ་པོ་རོལ་སྟབས་སག་ལྷམ་མནབས༔

zhab nyi gyalpo rol tab saklham nab

His two feet, in the posture of royal ease, wear tall felt boots.

ཡེ་ཤེས་འཇའ་འོད་ཐིག་ལེའི་ཀློང་དུ་བཞུགས༔

yeshe ja ö tiklé long du zhuk

He presides amidst an expanse of rainbow-coloured spheres of wisdom light,

བརྒྱུད་གསུམ་རིག་འཛིན་བླ་མའི་ཚོགས་ཀྱིས་བསྐོར༔

gyü sum rigdzin lamé tsok kyi kor

And is surrounded by the vidyādhara gurus of the three transmissions.

སྐུ་ཡི་འོད་ཀྱིས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཞིང་ཀུན་ཁྱབ༔

ku yi ö kyi sangye zhing künkhyab

Light from his body shines throughout all buddha-realms;

གསུང་གིས་འགྲོ་དྲུག་སེམས་ཅན་བདེ་ལ་བཀོད༔

sung gi dro druk semchen dé la kö

His speech leads beings of the six realms to bliss;

ཐུགས་ཀྱི་དགོངས་པས་སྐལ་ལྡན་རྗེས་སུ་འཛིན༔

tuk kyi gongpé kalden jesu dzin

His mind cares wisely for fortunate disciples;

ཡོན་ཏན་ཡིད་བཞིན་རེ་སྐོང་གཏེར་ལ་དབང༔

yönten yizhin rekong ter la wang

His qualities are like a treasury that fulfils every wish;

ཕྲིན་ལས་རྒྱ་ཆེ་སྲིད་གསུམ་འགྲོ་བ་འདུལ༔

trinlé gyaché si sum drowa dul

And his activity is extensive, taming beings throughout the three worlds.

ཡོན་ཏན་དུ་མས་བརྒྱན་པའི་སྐུ་བརྙེས་པ༔

yönten dumé gyenpé ku nyepa

His form is thus adorned with enlightened qualities in abundance.

རིགས་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་བདག་ཨོ་རྒྱན་རྡོ་རྗེ་དང༔

rik kün khyab dak orgyen dorjé dang

Vajradhara of Oḍḍiyāna, pervasive lord of all buddha families,

ཁྱེད་ལ་རྩེ་གཅིག་དད་པས་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས༔

khyé la tsechik depé solwa deb

With single-pointed faith, I pray to you.

བདག་སོགས་མོས་པའི་བུ་ལ་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

dak sok möpé bu la jingyi lob

Inspire us, your devoted children, with blessings.

རེ་ས་གཞན་ན་མེད་དོ་ཐུགས་རྗེས་ཟུངས༔

resa zhen na mé do tukjé zung

We have no other hope but you. Hold us with compassion!

བློ་སྣ་ཆོས་ལ་བསྒྱུར་ཅིག་བླ་མ་མཁྱེན༔

lona chö la gyur chik lama khyen

Turn our minds towards the Dharma! O guru, care for us!

ཞེས་སྐུའི་བཀོད་པ་རང་གི་བློ་ངོར་མ་གསལ་བར་དུ་ཡང་ཡང་བརྩོན་པར་བྱའོ༔

Exert yourself in this practice repeatedly until the details of the forms appear clearly to your mind.

Accumulation of Merit

མཐར་ཚོགས་བསོག་པ་ནི༔

Then continue with the accumulation of merit:

ན་མོ༔ དུས་གསུམ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཡོངས་འདུས་བླ་མ་ལ༔

namo, dü sum sangye yongdü lama la

Namo. To the guru, embodiment of all buddhas of past, present and future,

བདག་སོགས་འགྲོ་ཀུན་གུས་པས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ལོ༔

dak sok dro kün güpé chaktsal lo

I and all other beings prostrate ourselves in devotion.

ལུས་དང་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་སྣང་སྲིད་མཆོད་པར་འབུལ༔

lü dang longchö nangsi chöpar bul

My body, possessions and all apparent existence, I offer.

སྒོ་གསུམ་མི་དགེའི་ལས་བསགས་མཐོལ་ལོ་བཤགས༔

go sum mi gé lé sak tol lo shak

All non-virtuous actions committed with body, speech and mind, I openly confess.

རྣམ་དཀར་དགེ་ཚོགས་ཀུན་ལ་རྗེ་ཡི་རངས༔

namkar gé tsok kün la jé yirang

In all wholesome, virtuous actions ever amassed, I rejoice.

གང་འདུལ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་བསྐོར་བར་བསྐུལ༔

gang dul chö kyi khorlo korwar kul

Let the Dharma Wheel turn, I pray, for the sake of those to be trained.

དམ་པ་མྱ་ངན་མི་འདའ་བཞུགས་གསོལ་འདེབས༔

dampa nya ngen mi da zhuk soldeb

All noble beings, I beseech you to remain and not pass beyond suffering,

དུས་གསུམ་བསགས་པའི་དགེ་བ་འགྲོ་ལ་བསྔོ༔

dü sum sakpé gewa dro la ngo

And all the virtues gathered throughout the three times I dedicate to all beings.

ཀུན་ཀྱང་བླ་མེད་བྱང་ཆུབ་ས་འཐོབ་ཤོག༔

kün kyang lamé changchub sa tob shok

May everyone attain the state of unsurpassed awakening!

 

ཀྱེ་ཀྱེ་བླ་མ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

kyé kyé lama rinpoche khyen no

Kye! Kye! O precious guru, care for me!

སྟོན་མཆོག་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀུན་འདུས༔

tön chok sangye kündü

Supreme teacher, embodiment of all the buddhas,

རྒྱུད་སྡེ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་དམ་ཆོས༔

The sacred dharma of oceanic classes of tantra,

རིག་གྲོལ་བརྒྱད་ལྡན་དགེ་འདུན༔

rik drol gyeden gendün

And the saṅgha with its eight qualities of knowledge and liberation—

མཆོག་གསུམ་ཀུན་འདུས་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

chok sum kündü khyen no

You who embody these Three Jewels, care for me!

བླ་མེད་བླ་མའི་ངོ་བོ༔

lamé lamé ngowo

Essence of the guru unsurpassed,

ཡི་དམ་ཀུན་འདུས་བདག་ཉིད༔

yidam kündü daknyi

Personification of all yidam deities,

སྐུ་གསུམ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་རྗེ་བོ༔

ku sum khandrö jewo

And master of the three-kāya ḍākinīs—

རྩ་གསུམ་ཀུན་འདུས་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

tsa sum kündü khyen no

You who embody these Three Roots, care for me!

ཆོས་སྐུ་སྤྲོས་པ་དང་བྲལ་བ༔

chöku tröpa dang dralwa

The dharmakāya that is free from elaboration,

ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཡོན་ཏན་འབྱུང་གནས༔

lhündrub yönten jungné

The source of all spontaneously present qualities,

ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་ཀྱི་བདག་ཉིད༔

tukjé künkhyab kyi daknyi

And the paragon of all-pervasive compassion—

སྐུ་གསུམ་ཡོངས་འདུས་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

ku sum yongdü dé khyen no

You who embody these three kāyas, care for me!

ངོ་བོ་ཁྱབ་གདལ་གྱི་ཀློང་ཆེན༔

ngowo khyab dal gyi longchen

The essence that is the great, pervasive expanse,

རང་བཞིན་འགག་མེད་ཀྱི་ཡེ་ཤེས༔

rangzhin gakmé kyi yeshe

The nature that is unceasing primordial wisdom,

ཐུགས་རྗེ་རང་གྲོལ་གྱི་རོལ་པ༔

tukjé rangdrol gyi rolpa

And the compassion that is self-liberation's display —

འཁོར་འདས་སྤྱི་དཔལ་དེ་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

khordé chi pal dé khyen no

Supreme glory of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, care for me!

ཕྱི་ནང་གཞན་གསུམ་ཀུན་རྣམ་དག༔

chi nang zhen sum kün namdak

So that the three of outer, inner and other may be purified,

སྒྱུ་ལུས་འོད་གསལ་དུ་སྨིན་ནས༔

gyulü ösal du min né

And the illusory body may mature into clear light,

སྐུ་གསུམ་ཡེ་ཤེས་དེ་མངོན་གྱུར༔

ku sum yeshe dé ngöngyur

The wisdom of the three kāyas may become manifest,

སྲིད་ཞི་མཉམ་ཉིད་དུ་རྫོགས་ཤིང༔

sizhi nyamnyi du dzok shing

Existence and peace may be perfected as equality,

གདོད་མའི་ཀ་དག་གི་དབྱིངས་སུ༔

dömé kadak gi ying su

And, within the basic space of primordial purity,

ཚེ་འདིར་བཙན་ས་ཞིག་ཟིན་པར༔

tsé dir tsensa zhik zinpar

I may seize liberation's stronghold within this very life,

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མ་རང་མཁྱེན་ནོ༔

palden lama rang khyen no

Glorious guru, care for me!

ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་བཛྲ་གུ་རུ་པདྨ་སིདྡྷི་ཧཱུྃ༔

om ah hung benza guru pema siddhi hung

oṃ āḥ hūṃ vajra guru padma siddhi hūṃ

ཞེས་བརྒྱ་སྟོང་ལ་སོགས་བརྗོད་མཐར༔

Recite this mantra a hundred or a thousand times or more.

Lineage Prayer

བརྒྱུད་པའི་བླ་མ་རྣམས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་པ་ནི༔

Then, continue with the prayer to the gurus of the lineage:

ཨེ་མ་ཧོ༔ ཀ་དག་སྤྲོས་པ་བྲལ་བའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས༔

emaho, kadak tröpa dralwé zhingkham né

Emaho. To Samantabhadra and consort, dharmakāya teachers

ཆོས་སྐུའི་སྟོན་པ་ཀུན་བཟང་ཡབ་ཡུམ་ལ༔

chökü tönpa kunzang yabyum la

Of the realm of primordial purity, free from elaboration, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

ལྷུན་གྲུབ་བཀོད་པ་རབ་རྫོགས་གཞལ་ཡས་ནས༔

lhündrub köpa rabdzok zhalyé né

To the sixth buddha, Vajradhara, together with his retinue

དྲུག་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་ཆེན་འཁོར་བཅས་ལ༔

drukpa dorjé chang chen khor ché la

From the celestial palace of spontaneous presence in all its perfection, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

གནས་ལུགས་ལྟ་བ་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

neluk tawa tokpar jingyi lob

And I may realize the view of the natural state.

དགོངས་བརྒྱུད་དག་པ་གཉིས་ལྡན་ཕོ་བྲང་ནས༔

gonggyü dakpa nyiden podrang né

To Garab Dorje and Śrī Siṃha

དགའ་རབ་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཤྲཱི་སེང་ཧ་ལ༔

garab dorjé shri seng hala

Of the mind-direct transmission's palace of twofold purity, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

སྙན་བརྒྱུད་ཐོས་གྲོལ་ཆེན་པོའི་ཀློང་ཡངས་ནས༔

nyengyü tödrol chenpö long yang né

To Padmākara, the king and subjects, together with hosts of siddhas

པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས་རྗེ་འབངས་གྲུབ་ཐོབ་ཚོགས༔

pema jungné jebang drubtob tsok

Of the oral lineage's vast expanse of great liberation upon hearing, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

གནས་གསུམ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་གཙོ་མོ་ཝ་ར་ཧི༔

né sum khandrö tsomo varahi

Vajravārāhī, foremost of ḍākinīs of the three places,

མནྡཱ་ར་བ་ཡེ་ཤེས་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་དང༔

mendara ba yeshe tsogyal dang

Mandāravā, Yeshe Tsogyal,

ཀ་ལ་སིདྡྷི་ཞི་བ་རྡོ་རྗེ་མཚོར༔

kala siddhi zhiwa dorjé tsor

Kālasiddhi and Shiwa Dorje Tso, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

རང་སྣང་སྟོན་པ་ཆོས་ཉིད་ནམ་མཁའ་མཛོད༔

rangnang tönpa chönyi namkha dzö

To the naturally manifesting teacher, the sky-treasury of dharmatā,

རིག་འཛིན་ཆེན་པོ་བདུད་འཇོམས་རྡོ་རྗེ་ལ༔

rigdzin chenpo düjom dorjé la

The great vidyādhara Dudjom Dorje, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

རང་རིག་དོན་སྟོན་གཏན་གྱི་སྐྱབས་གཅིག་པུ༔

rangrig dön tön ten gyi kyab chikpu

To the sole constant refuge who reveals my own awareness,

འཁོར་ལོའི་མགོན་པོ་པདྨ་ལས་འབྲེལ་ལ༔

khorlö gönpo pema ledrel la

Lord of the maṇḍala, Pema Ledreltsal, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

སྤྱི་བོ་བདེ་ཆེན་འཁོར་ལོའི་གདན་སྟེང་ནས༔

chiwo dechen khorlö den teng né

To the root guru of unrepayable kindness,

བཀའ་དྲིན་འཁོར་མེད་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ་ལ༔

kadrin khormé tsawé lama la

Seated on the chakra of great bliss at my crown, I pray:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་བདག་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ནས༔

solwa deb so dak gyü mindrol né

Bless me, so that my mind may be matured and liberated,

འཁྲུལ་མེད་གནས་ལུགས་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

trulmé neluk tokpar jingyi lob

And I may unerringly realize the natural state.

གཉུག་མའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་འཆར་བར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

nyukmé yeshe charwar jingyi lob

Bless me so that innate primordial wisdom may dawn!

སྐྱེ་མེད་ཆོས་སྐུ་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

kyemé chöku tokpar jingyi lob

Bless me so that I may realize the unborn dharmakāya!

འགྱུར་མེད་གཏན་སྲིད་ཟིན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས༔

gyurmé tensi zinpar jingyi lob

Bless me so that I may capture the constant, unchanging domain!

Receiving Empowerment

ཞེས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་ནས་འཁྲུལ་སྣང་ཡེ་ཤེས་སུ་གྲོལ་ཕྱིར་དབང་བཞི་ལེན་པ་ནི༔

Having prayed in this way, receive the four empowerments in order to liberated deluded perception into wisdom:

རིགས་བདག་བླ་མའི་སྤྱི་བོའི་ཨོཾ་དཀར་ལས༔

rikdak lamé chiwö om kar lé

From the white syllable Oṃ at the crown of the guru, who is the lord of all buddha families,

སྐུ་ཡི་དབང་བྱིན་འོད་དཀར་རྣམ་པར་བྱུང༔

ku yi wang jin ökar nampar jung

Empowerment and blessings of enlightened body emerge in the form of white light,

བདག་གི་སྤྱི་བོར་ཐིམ་པས་ལུས་སྒྲིབ་དག༔

dak gi chiwor timpé lü drib dak

Which dissolves into my crown and purifies physical obscurations,

བུམ་པའི་དབང་ཐོབ་སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྐུ་རུ་སྨིན༔

bumpé wang tob trulpé ku ru min

I receive the vase empowerment and mature into the nirmāṇakāya.

མགྲིན་པའི་ཨཱཿལས་གསུང་གི་དབང་བྱིན་རླབས༔

drinpé ah lé sung gi wang jinlab

From the Āḥ at the guru's throat, empowerments and blessings of enlightened speech emerge

འོད་དམར་རྣམ་པར་དག་གི་མགྲིན་པར་ཐིམ༔

ö mar nampar dak gi drinpar tim

In the form of red light, which dissolves into my throat,

ངག་རླུང་སྒྲིབ་དག་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་སྐུར་སྨིན༔

ngak lung drib dak longchö dzok kur min

Purifies my speech and obscurations of wind-energy, and I mature into saṃbhogakāya.

ཐུགས་ཀའི་ཧཱུྃ་ལས་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་དབང་བྱིན་རླབས༔

tukké hung lé tuk kyi wang jinlab

From the Hūṃ at the guru's heart, empowerments and blessings of enlightened mind emerge

འོད་མཐིང་རྣམ་པར་དག་གི་ཡིད་ལ་ཐིམ༔

ö ting nampar dak gi yi la tim

In the form of blue light, which dissolves into my mind,

ཡིད་ཐིག་སྒྲིབ་དག་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་རུ་སྨིན༔

yi tik drib dak chö kyi ku ru min

Purifies my mind and obscurations of essences, and I mature into dharmakāya.

སླར་ཡང་ཐུགས་ལས་འོད་ཟེར་ལྔ་ལྡན་བྱུང༔

lar yang tuk lé özer ngaden jung

Once again, from the guru's heart emerge five-coloured rays of light,

བདག་གི་གནས་ལྔར་ཐིམ་པར་ཉོན་ཤེས་ཀྱི༔

dak gi né ngar timpar nyön shé kyi

Which dissolve into my five centres and purify emotional and cognitive obscurations.

སྒྲིབ་པ་ཀུན་དག་ཚིག་དབང་མཆོག་ཐོབ་ནས༔

dribpa kün dak tsikwang chok tob né

I receive the supreme word empowerment

ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་སྐུའི་གོ་འཕང་མངོན་དུ་གྱུར༔

ngowo nyi kü gopang ngön du gyur

And actualize the state of svābhāvikakāya.

ཀཱ་ཡ་ཝཱཀྐ་ཙིཏྟ་སརྦ་སིདྡྷི་ཕ་ལ་ཧཱུྃ༔

kaya waka tsitta sarva siddhi pala hung

kāya vāk citta sarva siddhi phala hūṃ

ཞེས་བརྗོད་ནས་བླ་མའི་ཐུགས་རྣམ་པར་མི་རྟོག་པའི་དབྱིངས་སུ་མཉམ་པར་བཞག་གོ༔ མཐར༔

Having recited this, rest evenly in non-conceptual basic space, the wisdom mind of the guru. Then continue with:

རིགས་བདག་བླ་མ་འོད་ཞུ་རང་ལ་ཐིམ༔

rikdak lama ö zhu rang la tim

The guru, lord of buddha families, melts into light and dissolves into me.

རང་ཡང་མི་དམིགས་འོད་གསལ་ཆོས་སྐུའི་ཀློང༔

rang yang mimik ösal chökü long

I too merge into non-referential basic space, the dharmakāya expanse,

མ་བཅོས་སྤྲོས་མཐའ་བྲལ་བའི་དབྱིངས་སུ་ཡལ༔

machö trö ta dralwé ying su yal

Unaltered, and beyond the bounds of conceptualization.

འཁོར་འདས་དག་མཉམ་བདེ་བ་ཆེན་པོར་ཨཱ༔

khordé dak nyam dewa chenpor a

Within the great bliss that is the purity and equality of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa: āḥ!

ཞེས་འཛིན་མེད་ཆོས་སྐུའི་དགོངས་པས་བཟླའོ༔ ས་མ་ཡ༔

Without grasping, settle into dharmakāya realization. Samaya.

 

ཞེས་པ་འདི་ཡང་རང་སློབ་དམ་པ་ཤཱཀྱའི་དགེ་བཙུན་བྱ་བྲལ་ཤེས་རབ་འོད་ཟེར་དང་དད་དམ་ལྡན་པ་ལྷ་མི་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་རིན་ཆེན་དང་པོའི་སྐྱེས་བཅས་ཟབ་གཏེར་ཁ་སྐོང་ཕྱིར་དུ་ཡང་ཡང་འདི་ལྟར་བསྐུལ་ངོ་མ་ལྡོག་ཙམ་དུ་ཀུན་བཟང་བདེ་སྐྱོང་དབང་མོས་ཉམས་ཆོས་ཡིག་རིས་སུ་བྲིས་པ་དགེའོ།།

My own student, Chatral Sherab Özer, who is a venerable monk-follower of Śākyamuni, and Lhali, who possesses faith and samaya commitment, offered gifts of gold and repeatedly requested something like this in order to supplement my profound treasure.
