༁ྂ༔ མར་མེའི་སྨོན་ལམ་ནི༔

Light Aspiration Prayer (Marmé Mönlam)

from Lerab Lingpa’s 'Heart Practice of Yeshe Tsogyal’

ཧཱུྃ༔ ཡེ་ཤེས་མཁའ་འདྲོ་འདུས་པའི་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་འདིར༔

hung, yeshe kha dro düpé kyilkhor dir

Hūṃ. Here in this maṇḍala where wisdom ḍākinīs gather,

གསང་མཆོག་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ལམ་དུ་ཞུགས་པ་རྣམས༔

sang chok dorjé lam du zhukpa nam

We have entered the vajra path of highest secrets.

ཐེག་ཆུང་དམན་པའི་རྗེས་སུ་མི་གོལ་ཞིང་༔

tek chung menpé jesu mi gol zhing

So let us never stray into a lesser vehicle,

རིག་འཛིན་རྣམས་ཀྱི་གྲལ་དུ་ངེས་གནས་ཤོག༔

rigdzin nam kyi dral du ngé né shok

But take our place definitively in the ranks of the vidyādharas.

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མའི་བྱིན་རླབས་རྒྱུད་ལ་ཞུགས༔

palden lamé jinlab gyü la zhuk

May the blessing of the glorious guru fill our minds,

ཡི་དམ་ལྷ་ཡི་བསྙེན་སྒྲུབ་མཐའ་རུ་ཕྱིན༔

yidam lha yi nyendrub ta ru chin

May we perfect the approach and accomplishment of the yidam deity,

རྩ་རླུང་ཐིག་ལེའི་ཉམ་རྟོགས་གོན་འཕེལ་ནས༔

tsa lung tiklé nyam tok gön pel né

May our experience and realization via channels, winds and essences increase!

བླ་མེད་མཆོག་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་ཐོབ་པར་ཤོག༔

lamé chok gi ngödrub tobpar shok

May we obtain the supreme and unsurpassable siddhi!

སེམས་ཉིད་ཡེ་སངས་རྒྱས་པ་གཉུག་མའི་དོན༔

semnyi yé sangyé pa nyukmé dön

Mind’s nature is primordially enlightened, our true original state.

བློ་འདས་སྨྲ་བསམ་བརྗོད་མེད་དེ་བཞིན་ཉིད༔

lodé ma sam jömé dezhin nyi

Beyond intellect, inexpressible by speech or thought, as-it-isness,

དབྱིངས་རིག་འདུ་འབྲལ་མེད་པའི་རྫོགས་པ་ཆེ༔

yingrik dudral mepé dzogpa ché

Space and awareness inseparable—this is the Great Perfection:

མངོན་སུམ་མཐོང་ནས་འཇའ་སྐུར་གྲོལ་བར་ཤོག༔

ngönsum tong né ja kur drolwar shok

May we recognize it directly, and so be liberated into a rainbow body.

འཆི་སྲིད་ཆོས་སྐུའི་རང་ཞལ་ངང་གིད་མཐོང་༔

chi si chökü rang zhal ngang gi tong

At the moment of death, may we readily behold the very face of dharmakāya.

ལྷུན་གྲུབ་རྩལ་རྫོགས་བར་དོ་ལོངས་སྐུར་གྲོལ༔

lhündrub tsal dzok bardo longkur drol

Perfecting the bardo’s display of spontaneous presence, may we be liberated into the sambhogakāya.

ཟུང་འཇུག་ཐུག་རྗེས་རྒྱལ་བའི་ཞིང་ཁྱབ་སྟེ༔

zungjuk tuk jé gyalwé zhing khyab té

May the compassion of their unity pervade the buddha fields,

འབད་རྩོལ་མེད་པར་དོན་གཉིས་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཤོག༔

bé tsolmé par dön nyi lhündrub shok

Causing the benefit of self and others to be effortlessly fulfilled.

གལ་ཏེ་ལས་དང་བག་ཆགས་གཞན་དབང་གིས༔

galté lé dang bakchak zhenwang gi

If, overpowered by karma and habits beyond our control,

འཁྲུལ་སྣང་བར་དོའི་མུན་པ་འཆར་སྲིད་ན༔

trulnang bardö münpa char si na

The darkness of the bardo of delusory appearances ensues,

ཡེ་ཤེས་སྒྲོན་མེའི་སྣང་བས་གོ་ཕྱེས་ཏེ༔

yeshe drönmé nangwé go ché té

Let the light of the lamp of wisdom clear the way,

བླ་མ་ལྷ་དང་མཆེད་ལྕམ་ཞལ་མཐོང་ཤོག༔

lama lha dang checham zhal tong shok

So that we see the faces of the guru deity, vajra sisters and brothers!

བཟོད་མེད་མོས་གུས་གདུང་བས་མཚམས་སྦྱར་ནས༔

zömé mögü dungwé tsam jar né

At that moment amidst a devotion, a yearning so unbearable,

རིག་འཛིན་བླ་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་མདུན་བསུས་ཤིང་༔

rigdzin lama nam kyi dün sü shing

As the vidyādhara gurus appear in front to receive us,

ཡི་དམ་ལྷ་ཚོགས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་རྒྱབ་ནས་བསྟེན༔

yidam lhatsok nam kyi gyab né ten

The yidam deities escort us from behind,

མཆེད་ལྕམ་དཔའ་བོ་མཁའ་འགྲོས་ཡོངས་བསྐོར་ཏེ༔

checham pawo khandrö yong kor té

And our brothers and sisters, pawos and khandros, gather round,

ཡིད་འཕྲོག་སྙན་པའི་གླུ་གར་རོལ་མོ་བཅས༔

yitrok nyenpé lugar rolmo ché

To the sound of enchanting, beautiful songs, dance and music—

རང་སྣང་དག་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་འགྲོ་བར་ཤོག༔

rangnang dakpé zhing du drowar shok

May we enter the pure realm of our own natural radiance.

དབང་མེད་ལས་ཀྱིས་འཇིག་རྟེན་འདིར་སྐྱེས་ཀྱང་༔

wangmé lé kyi jikten dir kyé kyang

Yet if we cannot help but be born in this world due to our karma,

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མས་རྟག་ཏུ་རྗེས་བཟུང་ནས༔

palden lamé taktu jezung né

May we be always cared for by the glorious guru,

ཟབ་གསང་རྡོ་རྗེ་རྩེ་མོའི་ལམ་མཆོག་དང་༔

zabsang dorjé tsemö lam chok dang

And meditate single-pointedly, without ever being apart from

ནམ་ཡང་འབྲལ་མེད་རྩེ་གཅིག་བསྒོམ་པར་ཤོག༔

namyang dralmé tsechik gompar shok

The supreme path of the profound and secret Vajra Pinnacle.

ཉམས་པའི་ཆད་པས་ངན་སོང་གནས་མཐོང་ཡང་༔

nyampé chepé ngensong né tong yang

Even if we violate our samaya, and we experience the lower realms,

སྨོན་ལམ་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས་བླ་མ་མཆེད་ལྕམ་དང་༔

mönlam tob kyi lama checham dang

Then, may the power of this aspiration prayer, and recalling

གསང་སྔགས་རྗེས་སུ་དྲན་པས་སྐད་ཅིག་གིས༔

sang ngak jesu drenpé kechik gi

Our guru, brothers and sisters, and the secret mantras,

ལས་ངན་རྣམ་སྨིན་མི་བཟད་བྱང་བར་ཤོག༔

lé ngen nammin mi zé jangwar shok

Purify—in one single instant—all our harmful karma due to ripen.

དེ་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་དལ་འབྱོར་མཆོག་ཐོབ་ཅིང་༔

dé ma tak tu daljor chok tob ching

Immediately then, may we obtain the supreme freedoms and advantages of a human birth,

གསང་ཆེན་ལམ་ལས་ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པ་ཡི༔

sang chen lam lé chirmidokpa yi

Enter the great secret path, attain complete irreversible enlightenment,

མངོན་བྱང་ཆུབ་ནས་སྲིད་པ་ཇི་སྲིད་བར༔

ngön jangchub né sipa jisi bar

And for as long as saṃsāra endures,

སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཅན་གྱི་འགྲོ་རྣམས་སྐྱོབས་པར་ཤོག༔

dukngal chen gyi dro nam kyobpar shok

Protect all living beings afflicted by suffering.

མདོར་ན་འདི་བཟུང་བྱང་ཆུབ་སྙིང་པོའི་བར༔

dorna di zung changchub nyingpö bar

Finally, from now till we attain the essence of enlightenment,

བཀའ་དྲིན་ཅན་གྱི་རྡོ་རྗེ་སློབ་དཔོན་དང་༔

kadrinchen gyi dorjé lobpön dang

May we never be apart from the vajra master so, so kind,

ལུ་གུ་རྒྱུད་དུ་འབྲེལ་བའི་མཆེད་ལྕམ་རྣམས༔

lugu gyü du drelwé checham nam

Or from the vajra sisters and brothers in our unbroken lineage,

མི་འབྲལ་ཚོམ་བུ་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཚང་རྒྱ་ཤོག༔ ༔

mindral tsombu chik tu tsang gya shok

And so awaken to buddhahood, all together, as one.
