The Lineage Prayer for the Heart-Essence of the Deathless Lake-Born Vajra

སྣང་བ་མཐའ་ཡས་རང་བྱུང་གདོད་མའི་མགོན། །

nangwa tayé rangjung dömé gön

Primordial self-arisen protector, Boundless Light;¹

འཇིག་རྟེན་དབང་ཕྱུག་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་སྙིང་རྗེའི་གཏེར། །

jikten wangchuk künkhyab nyingjé ter

Treasure of infinite compassion, Lokeśvara;

མཚོ་སྐྱེས་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆི་མེད་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐུ། །

tsokyé dorjé chimé yeshe ku

Deathless wisdom kāya, Lake-Born Vajra—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྣམ་གཉིས་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so ngödrub nam nyi tsol

I supplicate you all! Pray, grant the twofold siddhis!

 

མངའ་བདག་ཡབ་སྲས་བོད་ཁམས་སྐྱོབ་པའི་རྗེ། །

ngadak yabsé bö kham kyobpé jé

Guardians of Tibet and Kham, sovereign father and son;²

བཻ་རོ་ཙ་ན་བསྟན་པ་གསལ་བའི་འབངས། །

bai rotsa na tenpa salwé bang

You who lit up the doctrine, faithful disciple Vairocana;

མཁར་ཆེན་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་གསང་བ་འཛིན་པའི་གྲོགས། །

khar chen tsogyal sangwa dzinpé drok

Companion who holds the secrets, Kharchen³ Tsogyel:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྣམ་གཉིས་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so ngödrub nam nyi tsol

འོད༵་གསལ༵་ལུས་ཅན་དྲི་མེད་བཤེས་གཉེན་གྱི། །

ösal lüchen drimé shenyen gyi

Vajra dance incarnate from wisdom space,

ཡེ་ཤེས་དབྱིངས་ལས་སྤྲུལ༵་པའི༵་རྡོ༵་རྗེ༵འི་གར། །

yeshe ying lé trulpé dorjé gar

Vimalamitra, pristine spiritual guide with a body of light,

མཆོག་གི་རིག་འཛིན་ཁྱབ་བདག་བླ་མ་ལ། །

chok gi rigdzin khyabdak lama la

All-pervasive, supreme, vidyādhara guru—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྣམ་གཉིས་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so ngödrub nam nyi tsol

I supplicate you! Pray, grant the twofold siddhis!

 

པདྨའི་ཞལ་ཚབ་པདྨ་གར་གྱི་དབང༌། །

pemé zhal tsab pema gar gyi wang

Padma’s regent, Pema Garwang—‘Lotus Lord of Dance’;⁴

རྩོད་བྲལ་གཏེར་ཆེན་མཆོག་གྱུར་གླིང་པ་སོགས། །

tsödral terchen chokgyur lingpa sok

Undisputed great treasure-revealer, Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa;

བཀའ་བབས་ལས་ལྡན་སྙིང་གི་བུ་རྣམས་ལ། །

kabab leden nying gi bu nam la

And all the destined heart-sons of the teaching transmissions—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྣམ་གཉིས་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so ngödrub nam nyi tsol

I supplicate you all! Pray, grant the twofold siddhis!

 

མཚོ་སྐྱེས་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཛྙཱ་ན་དྷཱ་ཀི་མ། །

tsokyé dorjé jnana dhaki ma

Lake-Born Vajra and your jñāna-ḍākinī;

རིགས་ཀྱི་བདག་པོ་དབང་ཆེན་ཡབ་དང་ཡུམ། །

rik kyi dakpo wangchen yab dang yum

Mighty One and consort, the family sovereigns;

སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་དབང་རྩ་གསུམ་དམ་ཅན་ལ། །

chenrezik wang tsa sum damchen la

Avalokiteśvara, the three roots, and the oathbound ones—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྣམ་གཉིས་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so ngödrub nam nyi tsol

I supplicate you all! Pray, grant the twofold siddhis!

 

སྣང་སྲིད་གཞིར་བཞེངས་བསྐྱེད་པའི་རིམ་པ་ཡིས། །

nangsi zhir zheng kyepé rimpa yi

Through the generation stage of seeing all possible appearance as the manifest ground,

བུམ་དབང་བསྙེན་པའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ལྷུན་གྱིས་གྲུབ། །

bum wang nyenpé naljor lhün gyi drub

May we naturally accomplish the vase empowerment, the practice of approach.

སྲོག་ཐུར་དབུ་མར་ཞུགས་པའི་འབར་འཛག་གིས། །

sok tur umar zhukpé bar dzak gi

Through the blazing and dripping that ensues from leading the life-force and downward winds into the central channel,

གསང་དབང་ཉེ་བསྙེན་མཐའ་རུ་ཕྱིན་པར་ཤོག །

sangwang nyé nyen ta ru chinpar shok

May we perfect the secret empowerment, the practice of close approach.

 

རང་སྣང་ཡེ་རྒྱ་ལས་སྐྱེས་དགའ་བཞི་ཡིས། །

rangnang yé gyalé kyé ga zhi yi

Through the four joys arisen from the wisdom mudrā of self-appearance,

ཤེར་དབང་སྒྲུབ་པའི་གསེང་ལམ་བདེ་བླག་བགྲོད། །

sherwang drubpé seng lam delak drö

May we traverse with blissful ease the short-cut path of accomplishing the wisdom-knowledge empowerment!

ཀ་དག་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཟད་སར་འཁྱོལ་བ་ཡིས། །

kadak lhündrub zé sar khyolwa yi

By reaching the state of exhaustion through primordial purity and spontaneous presence,

ཚིག་དབང་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་འབྲས་ཐོབ་ཤོག །

tsikwang drubpa chenpö dré tob shok

May we attain the great accomplishment of the word empowerment!

 

མོས་གུས་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས་ལུས་སེམས་འཆིང་བ་གྲོལ། །

mögü tob kyi lü sem chingwa drol

Through devotion’s power, may our bodies and minds be freed from bondage,

རང་རིག་མཚོ་སྐྱེས་བླ་མའི་ཞལ་མཇལ་ཏེ། །

rangrig tsokyé lamé zhal jal té

So that we meet the Lake-Born Guru, self-awareness, in person,

ནམ་མཁའ་མཉམ་པའི་འགྲོ་བ་མ་ལུས་པ། །

namkha nyampé drowa malüpa

And then establish all beings, infinite as space,

བདེ་ཆེན་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ས་ལ་འགོད་པར་ཤོག །

dechen dorjé sa la göpar shok

In the state of indestructible great bliss!

 

ཅེས་པའང་ཟབ་གསང་བདུད་རྩིའི་སྐལ་པ་དགེ་བ་ཅན་པདྨ་གར་གྱི་དབང་ཕྱུག་རྩལ་གྱིས་སྤྲེལ་ལོ་སྤྲེལ་ཟླའི་ཤེར་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་ཚེས་བཅུ་ལ་བྲིས་ནས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་དགེ་ལེགས་འཕེལ།། །།

This was written with prayers on the auspicious tenth day of the monkey month in the Monkey year by the virtuous Pema Gargyi Wangchuk Tsel,⁵ one who is endowed with the fortune of the deathless nectar⁶ of the profound mystery. May virtuous excellence increase!
