༄༅། །སྨོན་ལམ་ཆོས་ཀུན་བདེན་གཉིས་དབྱེར་མེད་མ།

Prayer of Aspiration

ཨོཾ་སྭསྟི།

om swasti

Oṃ svasti!

ཆོས་ཀུན་བདེན་གཉིས་དབྱེར་མེད་པ།  །

chö kün den nyi yermé pa

Wherein all things, the two truths indivisible,

རྡུལ་བྲལ་མཁའ་ལྟར་དག་པ་ཡི།  །

duldral kha tar dakpa yi

Are as pure as an immaculate sky—

བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་ཀྱི་རྡོ་རྗེ་ལ།  །

changchub sem kyi dorjé la

To the vajra of the awakening mind

འདུ་འབྲལ་མེད་པར་ཕྱག་བགྱིའོ།  །

dudral mepar chak gyi’o

Beyond union and separation, I pay homage.

ལྷ་དང་བཅས་པའི་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི།  །

lha dang chepé jikten gyi

Siddhārtha, great sage

ཐུབ་ཆེན་དོན་ཀུན་གྲུབ་པ་དང་།  །

tub chen dön kün drubpa dang

For the whole world including the gods,

བཅོམ་ལྡན་མགོན་པོ་འོད་དཔག་མེད།  །

chomden gönpo öpakmé

Blessed protector Amitābha,

བདེ་གཤེགས་བདུན་དང་མཚན་ཐོས་པས།  །

deshek dün dang tsen töpé

Seven bliss-gone buddhas, Bhaiṣajya Guru,

ངན་སོང་ཀུན་སྐྱོབས་སྨན་གྱི་བླ།  །

ngensong kün kyob men gyi la

Whose name alone protects from the lower realms,

མི་འཁྲུགས་པ་སོགས་སངས་རྒྱས་དང་།  །

mitrukpa sok sangye dang

Akṣobhya and all the other buddhas,

འཕགས་མཆོག་སྙིང་རྗེའི་དབང་ཕྱུག་ཆེ།  །

pakchok nyingjé wangchuk ché

Sublime and noble Lord of Compassion,

རྒྱལ་སྲས་འཇམ་དཔལ་དཔའ་བོ་སོགས།  །

gyalsé jampal pawo sok

Valiant son of the victors, Mañjuśrī,

སེམས་དཔའ་ཆེ་རྣམས་དགོངས་སུ་གསོལ།  །

sempa ché nam gong su sol

And all the other great bodhisattvas, turn your attention towards me!

བདག་གི་སྨོན་ལམ་འདི་དག་རྣམས།  །

dak gi mönlam didak nam

Cause these aspirations of mine

མྱུར་དུ་འགྲུབ་པར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ།  །

nyurdu drubpar dzé du sol

To be swiftly fulfilled, I pray.

བྱེ་བ་བདག་ལུས་གྲངས་མེད་ཀྱི།  །

jewa dak lü drangmé kyi

May all sentient beings, my very own mothers,

མ་གྱུར་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་དང་།  །

magyur semchen tamché dang

Who have borne my countless billions of bodies in the past,

ཁྱད་པར་དལ་འབྱོར་འདི་ཉིད་ཀྱི།  །

khyepar daljor di nyi kyi

And especially my gracious mother of this lifetime,

རྟེན་བཟང་བསྐྱེད་པའི་དྲིན་མོ་ཆེ།  །

ten zang kyepé drinmo ché

Who bore this excellent support with its freedoms and advantages,

བར་དོའི་འཇིགས་ལས་གྲོལ་བར་ཤོག  །

bardö jik lé drolwar shok

Be delivered from the terrors of the intermediate state!

སྐྱེ་གནས་ངན་པའི་རྒྱུན་ལྡོག་ཅིང་།  །

kyené ngenpé gyün dok ching

May they avoid all wretched states of rebirth

དག་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་པདྨོ་ལས།  །

dakpé zhing du pemo lé

And instead take birth miraculously from a lotus

བརྫུས་སྐྱེས་རྒྱལ་བའི་ཞལ་མཐོང་ནས།  །

dzü kyé gyalwé zhal tong né

In a pure realm, there to behold the Buddha’s face

བྱང་ཆུབ་ལུང་བསྟན་ཐོབ་པར་ཤོག  །

changchub lungten tobpar shok

And receive the prophecy of their own awakening.

གལ་ཏེ་འཁོར་བར་སྐྱེས་གྱུར་ཀྱང་།  །

galté khorwar kyé gyur kyang

Even if they must take rebirth within saṃsāra,

རིགས་བཟང་དལ་འབྱོར་ལུས་ཐོབ་ཅིང་།  །

rik zang daljor lü tob ching

May they join a good family and gain the freedoms and advantages,

སྐྱེས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་ཆོས་དང་འཕྲད།  །

kyé ma tak tu chö dang tré

Meet the Dharma as soon as they are born,

ཡང་དག་བཤེས་དང་འཕྲད་གྱུར་ཅིག  །

yangdak shé dang tré gyur chik

And encounter a pure, authentic spiritual teacher.

འཕགས་པའི་ནོར་གྱི་ཕྱུགས་པ་དང་།  །

pakpé nor gyi chukpa dang

May they be rich with the treasures of nobility

མཐོ་རིས་ཡོན་ཏན་དཔལ་མངའ་ཞིང་།  །

tori yönten pal nga zhing

And possess all the splendid qualities of the higher realms.

སྐྱེ་བ་དེ་ཡི་སྲིད་རྒྱུན་གཅོད།  །

kyewa dé yi si gyün chö

May they put an end to further rebirth in conditioned existence

ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་ས་ཐོབ་ཤོག  །

chirmidokpé sa tob shok

And attain the level from which regression is impossible.

བདག་ཀྱང་མ་གྱུར་སེམས་ཅན་རྣམས།  །

dak kyang magyur semchen nam

May I bring sentient beings, my past mothers,

སངས་རྒྱས་ས་ལ་འགོད་པ་དང་།  །

sangye sa la göpa dang

To the state of enlightenment.

ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྒྲོལ་མ་ནི།  །

tsultrim chökyi drolma ni

And until Tsultrim Chökyi Drolma¹

བྱང་ཆུབ་དམ་པ་མ་ཐོབ་བར།  །

changchub dampa matob bar

Attains the sacred state of awakening,

དེ་སྲིད་བདག་ནི་འཁོར་བ་འདིར།  །

desi dak ni khorwa dir

May I too remain here in saṃsāra,

མི་ངལ་དོན་རབ་སྒྲུབ་པ་དང་།  །

mi ngal dön rab drubpa dang

And strive untiringly to be of benefit.

སྲིད་པའི་སྐྱོན་གྱིས་མ་གོས་ཤིང་།  །

sipé kyön gyi ma gö shing

Untouched by the flaws of worldly existence,

ཕྲིན་ལས་མཁའ་དང་མཉམ་པར་ཤོག  །

trinlé kha dang nyampar shok

May my activity be as vast as space itself.

རྩ་བརྒྱུད་བླ་མའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང་།  །

tsa gyü lamé jinlab dang

Through the blessings of the root and lineage gurus,

སྲས་བཅས་རྒྱལ་བའི་བདེན་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས།  །

sé ché gyalwé den tob kyi

And the power and truth of the victors and their heirs,

ཇི་ལྟར་སྨོན་པའི་གནས་འདི་རྣམས།  །

jitar mönpé né dinam

May all these points of aspiration

འབད་མེད་མྱུར་དུ་འགྲུབ་གྱུར་ཅིག  །

bemé nyurdu drub gyur chik

Be swiftly and effortlessly accomplished.

བདག་ནི་མཐོང་ཐོས་དྲན་རེག་ཀུན།  །

dak ni tong tö dren rek kün

May the seed of liberation be planted in all who see me,

ཐར་པའི་ས་བོན་ཐེབས་པ་དང་།  །

tarpé sabön tebpa dang

Hear me, think of me, or come in contact with me in any way.

བྱང་ཆུབ་མྱུ་གུ་རབ་སྨིན་ནས།  །

changchub nyugu rab min né

May the shoots of their awakening develop and mature

སྐུ་བཞིའི་འབྲས་བཟང་ཐོབ་པར་ཤོག  །

ku zhi dré zang tobpar shok

And yield the excellent fruit of the four kāyas.

ཅེས་པའང་སྙིང་ཐག་པ་ནས་སྨོན་ལམ་བཏབ་པ་འདི་ཡང་ཟླ་བ་གཉིས་པའི་ཚེས་ཉེར་དྲུག་ཟླ་བ་གྲོ་བཞིན་གྱི་འགྲུབ་སྦྱོར་ལའོ།།   །།

This heartfelt prayer of aspiration was made on the twenty-sixth day of the second month during the conjunction of Śrāvaṇa.
