A Spontaneous Vajra Song¹

ཕ་བླ་མ་རྗེ་ལ་གུས་པས་འདུད། །

pa lama jé la güpé dü

Respectfully I bow before the noble father-guru.

བུ་ཉོན་དང་རིགས་ལྡན་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྒྲོན། །

bu nyön dang rikden yeshe drön

Listen child, noble Yeshe Drön—Wisdom Light.

ངག་ཏུ་འཚོགས་གྲལ་ལྟ་བུར་འདོན་ཚེ་འདི་ནས་མགོ་བཟུང་ན་ལེགས།

When chanting this text aloud in assemblies, it is good to begin from here:

འཁོར་འདས་སྟོང་ཆེན་གྱི་ཀོང་བུ་རུ། །

khordé tongchen gyi kongbu ru

In the vast empty vessel of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa,

ཀ་དག་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་མར་མེ་སྦར། །

kadak yeshe kyi marmé bar

I light the lamp of primordially pure wisdom.

ཆོས་ཉིད་རང་གསལ་གྱི་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །

chönyi rangsal gyi chöpa bul

I offer the gift of naturally luminous dharmatā.

ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐུ་ལྔ་ཡི་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

yeshe ku nga yi ngödrub tsol

Grant the siddhi of the five wisdoms and kāyas.

རིག་པ་ཀ་དག་གི་ཀོང་བུ་རུ། །

rigpa kadak gi kongbu ru

In the vessel of primordially pure awareness,

ལྷུན་གྲུབ་འོད་གསལ་གྱི་མར་མེ་སྦར། །

lhündrub ösal gyi marmé bar

I light the lamp of spontaneously present luminosity.

བྱ་རྩོལ་བློ་བྲལ་གྱི་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །

jatsol lodral gyi chöpa bul

I offer the gift of freedom from any notion of exertion.

སྣང་བཞི་མཐར་ཕྱིན་གྱི་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

nang zhi tarchin gyi ngödrub tsol

Grant the siddhi of perfecting the four visions.

སྣང་བ་འོད་གསལ་གྱི་ཀོང་བུ་རུ། །

nangwa ösal gyi kongbu ru

In the vessel of the luminous visions,

སྐུ་དང་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་མར་མེ་སྦར། །

ku dang yeshe kyi marmé bar

I light the lamp of the kāyas and wisdoms.

ཀ་དག་གཏིང་གསལ་གྱི་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །

kadak tingsal gyi chöpa bul

I offer the gift of primordially pure, profound clarity.

ཆོས་ཟད་ཆེན་པོ་ཡི་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

chö zé chenpo yi ngödrub tsol

Grant the siddhi of the great exhaustion of phenomena.

ཆོས་ཟད་བློ་འདས་ཀྱི་ཀོང་བུ་རུ། །

chö zé lodé kyi kongbu ru

In the vessel of phenomenal exhaustion beyond the mind,

སྐུ་གསུམ་དབྱེར་མེད་ཀྱི་མར་མེ་སྦར། །

ku sum yermé kyi marmé bar

I light the lamp of the indivisible three kāyas.

འཁོར་བ་དོང་སྤྲུགས་ཀྱི་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །

khorwa dongtruk kyi chöpa bul

I offer the gift of emptying saṃsāra from its depths.

གཞན་དོན་མཐར་ཕྱིན་གྱི་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

zhendön tarchin gyi ngödrub tsol

Grant the siddhi of consummate benefit to others.

གྲགས་སྟོང་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཐོལ་གླུ། །

drak tong dorjé tol lu

Through this vajra song of sonic emptiness

གང་ཤར་ཤུགས་འབྱུང་བརྗོད་འདིས། །

gangshar shuk jung jö di

Expressing whatever arose spontaneously,

གཉིས་སྣང་འཁྲུལ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན། །

nyinang trulpé semchen

May beings caught in dualistic delusion

གཉིས་མེད་ཀློང་དུ་གྱུར་ཅིག།

nyimé long du gyur chik

Enter the expanse that is free from duality.

བདེ་ཆེན་པདྨ་ཤེལ་ཕུག།
འོད་གསལ་ཆེན་པོའི་ཁང་པར། །
ཡེ་ཤེས་རིག་པའི་ཁྱེའུ་ཆུང་། །
ཉམས་ཀྱི་སྣང་བ་འབར་བས། །
རྡོ་རྗེའི་གླུ་འདི་སྒྲོགས་སོ། །

In the chamber of great luminosity
Within the Lotus Crystal Cave of Great Bliss,
The child of wisdom awareness
Experienced a blazing of visionary experience
And proclaimed this vajra song.
