༄༅། །འཇམ་དཔལ་ལ་བསྟོད་པ་བློ་གྲོས་རབ་འཕེལ་བཞུགས།

A Praise to Mañjuśrī

ན་མོ་མཉྫུ་ཤྲཱི་ཡེ།
Namo Mañjuśriye!1
དམར་སེར་ཉི་མ་འཆར་ཀའི་ལང་ཚོ་ཅན། །
marser nyima charké langtso chen
Your splendid form is orange-red like the rising sun,
མཚན་དཔེ་འོད་ཟེར་སྟོང་དུ་འབར་བ་ཡིས། །
tsenpé özer tong du barwa yi
Ablaze with its myriad rays of the major and minor marks,
འགྲོ་བའི་མ་རིག་མུན་པ་སེལ་མཛད་པ། །
drowé marik münpa sel dzepa
Dispelling the darkness of beings’ confusion.
གཞོན་ནུའི་སྐུ་རུ་བསྟན་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
zhönnü ku ru ten la chaktsal lo
I bow to the one who displays this youthful form.
གསུང་ནི་མ་འགགས་ཚངས་པའི་དབྱངས་དང་ལྡན། །
sung ni magak tsangpé yang dangden
Your unobstructed speech is endowed with divine melody;
ཐོས་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་ཀུན་གྱི་ཡིད་འཕྲོག་པས ། །
töpa tsam gyi kün gyi yitrok pé
It captivates the minds of all who hear it
ཁམས་གསུམ་འཁོར་བའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་སེལ་མཛད་ཅིང༌། །
kham sum khorwé dukngal sel dzé ching
And dispels the sufferings of the three realms.
ཐར་པའི་གནས་སུ་དྲངས་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །
tarpé né su drang la chaktsal tö
I bow to the one who leads beings to liberation.
ཐུགས་ནི་ནམ་མཁའ་ལྟ་བུའི་སྟོང་པ་ཉིད། །
tuk ni namkha tabü tongpanyi
Your space-like mind is emptiness itself—
ཉོན་མོངས་མ་རིག་དྲི་མས་མ་གོས་པས། །
nyönmong marik drimé magöpé
Unstained by mental afflictions and ignorance,
ཤེས་བྱའི་ཆོས་ཀུན་རྒྱུ་སྐར་བཞིན་དུ་བཀྲ། །
shejé chö kün gyukar zhindu tra
So that everything knowable is as bright and clear as the constellations.
མ་འདྲེས་ཐམས་ཅད་མཁྱེན་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
ma dré tamché khyen la chaktsal lo
I bow to the one who knows all without the slightest confusion.
མཚན་ཐོས་ཙམ་གྱིས་ཤེས་རབ་རབ་ཏུ་འཕེལ། །
tsen tö tsam gyi sherab rabtu pel
Merely hearing your name causes wisdom to increase,
རིག་སྔགས་བཟླས་པས་མཁྱེན་གཉིས་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །
rik ngak depé khyen nyi ngödrub tsol
And reciting your mantra grants the accomplishment of twofold knowledge.2
ཆོས་དབྱིངས་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་རྣམ་ཐར་བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ། །
chöying künkhyab namtar sam mikhyab
Your liberation pervades the dharmadhātu and lies beyond the intellect—
ཡོན་ཏན་ཕ་མཐའ་ཡས་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །
yönten pata yé la chaktsal tö
I bow to the one with boundless qualities.
དུས་ངན་སྙིགས་ལ་ཉོན་མོངས་ཤུགས་དྲག་པས། །
dü ngen nyik la nyönmong shuk drakpé
“In decadent times when mental afflictions are fierce,
ཁྱོད་ལ་གསོལ་བཏབ་རྗེས་སུ་བཟུང་མཛད་ཅེས། །
khyö la soltab jesu zung dzé ché
We will pray to you, and you will hold us in your care.”
བདེན་པར་སྨྲ་བས་ཇི་ལྟར་ལུང་བསྟན་བཞིན། །
denpar mawé jitar lungten zhin
Such was the prophecy of the Buddha, Speaker of Truth.
ཕྲིན་ལས་རྨད་དུ་བྱུང་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་བསྟོད། །
trinlé mé du jung la chaktsal tö
Accordingly, I bow to and praise the one with wondrous enlightened activity.
དེ་ལྟར་ཁྱེད་ལ་གུས་པའི་བསྟོད་པ་ཡིས། །
detar khyé la güpé töpa yi
Through this respectful offering of praise to you,
བདག་གི་བློ་ཡིད་མུན་པ་ཀུན་སེལ་ནས། །
dak gi lo yi münpa kün sel né
May the darkness in my mind be thoroughly cleared away and,
འཆད་རྩོད་རྩོམ་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་རབ་འཕེལ་ནས། །
ché tsö tsompé sherab rab pel né
As the wisdoms of teaching, debate and composition increase,
བསྟན་དང་འགྲོ་ལ་ཕན་བདེ་དཔལ་སྟེར་ཤོག །
ten dang dro la pendé pal ter shok
May you bestow the splendour of benefit and happiness for the doctrine and beings.
ཤིན་ཏུ་མཁས་པ་མ་ཡིན་ཀྱང༌། །
འཇམ་པའི་དབྱངས་ལ་དད་པ་ཡི། །
རབ་འབྱམས་མཚན་འཛིན་བྱིས་པ་ཡིས། །
ལག་རྩེས་རྩེ་བའི་ཞོར་དུ་བྲིས། །
A child holding the name of Rabjam,
Who is far from very learned,
Yet has great faith in Mañjuśrī,
Wrote this for his own amusement.
ཅེས་པའང་རང་ལོ་བཅུ་བཞི་པའི་སྐབས་ཁ་བཞི་ལྷོ་ཡི་སྨན་ལྗོངས་ཞབས་དྲུང་ངག་གི་དབང་པོའི་གདན་ས་སྤུངས་ཐང་རྫོང་དུ་བྲིས་པ་དགེའོ།།
This was written when I was fourteen years old, at Punakha Dzong, the seat of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, in the southern medicinal lands of Bhutan. May it be virtuous!
