Red Vajravārāhī Praise

༄༅། །ཕག་མོ་དམར་མོའི་རྟགས་བསྟོད་བཞུགས།

Praise Based on the Symbolism of Red Vajravārāhī

ཕག་མོའི་རྟགས་བསྟོད་མཆོད་སྐོང་ནི།

The fulfilment offering and praise based on Vārāhī’s symbolism is as follows:

ཧཱུྃ། །རྒྱལ་བ་ཀུན་གྱི་རང་བཞིན་ལས། །

hung, gyalwa kün gyi rangzhin lé

Hūṃ. From the nature of all the conquerors

ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་སྟོན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐུ། །

chotrul tönpé yeshe ku

Appears a miraculous wisdom form:

བཅོམ་ལྡན་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཕག་མོ་ནི། །

chomden dorjé pakmo ni

Bhagavatī Vajravārāhī,

ཨོ་རྒྱན་རང་བྱུང་གནས་སུ་བཞུགས། །

orgyen rangjung né su zhuk

Residing in self-arisen Oḍḍiyāna.

 

སྐུ་མདོག་དམར་ལ་སྨུག་པ་ནི། །

kudok mar la mukpa ni

Your body is a dark shade of red,

ཐུགས་རྗེའི་ཉམས་དན་ལྡན་པའི་རྟགས། །

tukjé nyam den denpé tak

A sign of your compassionate sentiment.

སྤྱན་གསུམ་དམར་ཟླུམ་འཁྲུགས་པ་ནི། །

chen sum mar dum trukpa ni

You have three eyes, red, round and animated,

སྐུ་གསུམ་མངོན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་རྟགས། །

ku sum ngön du gyurpé tak

A sign of having realized the three kāyas.

ཕྱག་གཡས་གྲི་གུག་བསྣམས་པ་ནི། །

chak yé driguk nampa ni

Your right hand holds a curved knife,

གཟུང་འཛིན་རྣམ་རྟོག་གཅོད་པའི་རྟགས། །

zungdzin namtok chöpé tak

A sign of cutting through dualistic thought.

ཕྱག་གཡོན་ཐོད་ཁྲག་བསྣམས་པ་ནི། །

chak yön tötrak nampa ni

Your left hand holds a skull-cup of blood,

འགྲོ་དྲུག་དབང་དུ་སྡུད་པའི་རྟགས། །

dro druk wang du düpé tak

A sign that you magnetize beings of the six classes.

ཞབས་གཉིས་བརྐྱང་བསྐུམ་བཞེངས་པ་ནི། །

zhab nyi kyangkum zhengpa ni

You stand with one leg extended and one drawn in,

ཐབས་དང་ཤེས་རབ་ལྡན་པའི་རྟགས། །

tab dang sherab denpé tak

A sign that you possess means and knowledge.

ཁྲོ་ཞལ་མཆེ་བ་གཙིགས་པ་ནི། །

tro zhal chewa tsikpa ni

Your expression is wrathful with bared teeth,

ཉོན་མོངས་གཡུལ་ངོ་འཇོམས་པའི་རྟགས། །

nyönmong yulngo jompé tak

A sign that you have conquered the afflictions.

སྤྱི་གཙུག་ཕག་ཞལ་ངུར་བ་ནི། །

chitsuk pak zhal ngurwa ni

Your crown features the grunting head of a sow,

སྐྱེ་མེད་ཆོས་སྒྲ་སྒྲོགས་པའི་རྟགས། །

kyemé chö dra drokpé tak

A sign that you proclaim the unborn dharma.

རལ་པ་ཐུར་དུ་གྲོལ་བ་ནི། །

ralpa turdu drolwa ni

Your hair is loose and hangs freely,

འགྲོ་ལ་རྗེས་སུ་ཆགས་པའི་རྟགས། །

dro la jesu chakpé tak

A sign of your deep affection for all beings.

ཐོད་སྐམ་དབུ་རྒྱན་བྱས་པ་ནི། །

tökam ugyen jepa ni

You are adorned with a crown of dried skulls,

ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྔ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་རྟགས། །

yeshe nga dang denpé tak

A sign that you possess the five forms of wisdom.

ཐོད་རློན་ཕྲེང་བ་བྱས་པ་ནི། །

tö lön trengwa jepa ni

You wear a necklace of fresh skulls,

འཇིག་རྟེན་དྲེགས་པ་ཟིལ་གནོན་རྟགས། །

jikten drekpa zilnön tak

A sign of subduing arrogant worldly forces.

སྐུ་ལ་རུས་པས་བརྒྱན་པ་ནི། །

ku la rüpé gyenpa ni

You are dressed in adornments made of bones,

ཕ་རོལ་ཕྱིན་དྲུག་རྫོགས་པའི་རྟགས། །

parol chin druk dzokpé tak

A sign of your mastery of the six transcendent perfections.

རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཁ་ཊྭཱཾ་འཆང་བ་ནི། །

dorjé khatam changwa ni

You hold the vajra khaṭvāṅga,

བདེ་ཆེན་ཟག་མེད་སྟོན་པའི་རྟགས། །

dechen zakmé tönpé tak

A sign that you manifest immaculate great bliss.

བམ་རོའི་གདན་ལ་འགྱིང་བ་ནི། །

bamrö den la gyingwa ni

You are balanced upon a human corpse,

བག་ཆགས་གནས་སུ་དག་པའི་རྟགས། །

bakchak né su dakpé tak

A sign of transmuting habitual patterns.

ཞལ་ནས་ཕེཾ་སྒྲ་སྒྲོགས་པ་ནི། །

zhal né pem dra drokpa ni

You exclaim the sound of "Pheṃ!

མཁའ་འགྲོ་ལས་ལ་འགྱེད་པའི་རྟགས། །

khandro lé la gyepé tak

A sign that you impel ḍākinīs to act.

དཔའ་བོ་དཔའ་མོས་བསྐོར་བ་ནི། །

pawo pa mö korwa ni

You are surrounded by the valiant, male and female,

སྣ་ཚོགས་འགྲོ་དོན་མཛད་པའི་རྟགས། །

natsok dro dön dzepé tak

A sign that you act for beings’ sake in varied ways.

 

ཁྱོད་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

khyö la chaktsal solwa deb

I pay homage and call out to you in prayer:

འདིར་བྱོན་བདག་ལ་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས། །

dir jön dak la jingyi lob

Come now and grant me your blessings.

ཚོགས་གཏོར་མཆོད་པས་ཐུགས་དམ་བསྐང་། །

tsoktor chöpé tukdam kang

Let the feast and torma offerings bring fulfilment.

དམ་ཚིགས་ཉམས་ཆག་མཐོལ་ཞིང་བཤགས། །

dam tsik nyamchak tol zhing shak

I confess my impairments and breakages of samaya.

མི་མཐུན་རྐྱེན་དང་བར་ཆད་སོལ། །

mitünkyen dang barché sol

Banish all forms of obstacle and adversity,

ནད་གདོན་སྡིག་སྒྲིབ་ཞི་བར་མཛོད། །

nedön dikdrib zhiwar dzö

Pacify illness, harmful influences, misdeeds and obscurations,

རྣལ་འབྱོར་ཚེ་དང་བསོད་ནམས་སྤེལ། །

naljor tsé dang sönam pel

Increase the lifespan and merit of practitioners,

ཅི་འདོད་དངོས་གྲུབ་མ་ལུས་སྩོལ། །

chi dö ngödrub malü tsol

And grant all the attainments and whatever I desire.

རང་སེམས་སྐྱེ་མེད་རྟོགས་པ་དང་། །

rangsem kyemé tokpa dang

Help me to realize the unborn nature of my mind

ལས་བཞིས་འགྲོ་དོན་འགྲུབ་པར་མཛོད། །

lé zhi dro dön drubpar dzö

And to benefit beings through the four types of activity.

 

ཆུ་འབྲུག་ཧོར་ཟླ་བཅུ་གཉིས་པའི་ཚེས་བཅུ་གཉིས་ནུབ་མོར་རྨི་ལམ་གྱི་འཁྲུལ་སྣང་ཤར་བ་ལྟར་ལས་རབ་གླིང་པས་བྲིས་པ་དགེའོ།། །།

Lerab Lingpa wrote this based on what occurred in a confused dream experience on the evening of the twelfth day of the twelfth month of the Water Dragon year.¹ May it be virtuous!
