Rigdzin Tsadrup Lineage Prayer

༄༅། །རིག་འཛིན་རྩ་སྒྲུབ་ཀྱི་བརྒྱུད་འདེབས་བྱིན་རླབས་སྤྲིན་ཕུང་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་སོ། །

A Towering Cloud of Blessings

A Lineage Prayer for the Rigdzin Tsadrup—the Root Practice of the Vidyādhara Padmasambhava

ཁྱབ་བདག་དང་པོའི་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀུན་ཏུ་བཟང་། །

khyabdak dangpö sangye kuntuzang

Primordially enlightened Buddha Samantabhadra,

བདེ་གཤེགས་ཀུན་འདུས་པདྨ་སཾ་བྷ་ཝ། །

deshek kündü pema sam bhawa

Padmasambhava, the sugatas all combined,

བཀའ་ཡི་སྡུད་པོ་ཌཱ་ཀི་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་ལ། །

ka yi düpo daki tsogyal la

Ḍākinī Tsogyal, collector of the sacred commands:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་ཟུང་འཇུག་སྐུ་ཐོབ་ཤོག །

solwa deb so zungjuk ku tob shok

To you I pray—may I attain the enlightened body of unity!

 

འཇིག་རྟེན་མིག་གཅིག་བཻ་རོ་ཙ་ན་དང་། །

jikten mik chik bai rotsa na dang

Vairotsana, single eye of the world,

མངའ་བདག་ཆོས་རྒྱལ་ཚངས་པ་ལྷའི་མེ་ཏོག །

ngadak chögyal tsangpa lhé metok

Dharma King, lord Tri Songdetsen, ‘Pure Flower of the Gods’,

གྲུབ་པ་མཆོག་བརྙེས་རྡོ་རྗེ་བདུད་འཇོམས་ལ། །

drubpa chok nyé dorjé düjom la

Dorje Dudjom, master of the highest siddhi:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་ཟུང་འཇུག་སྐུ་ཐོབ་ཤོག །

solwa deb so zungjuk ku tob shok

To you I pray—may I attain the enlightened body of unity!

 

ཟབ་གཏེར་གསང་བའི་སྒོ་འབྱེད་ལས་རབ་གླིང་།

zabter sangwé gojé lerab ling

Lerab Lingpa, opening hidden doors to profound treasures,

སྐལ་ལྡན་ཆོས་བདག་རྒྱུད་པ་བཅས་པ་དང་། །

kalden chödak gyüpa chepa dang

With your line of worthy Dharma heirs,

ཡི་དམ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་དམ་ཅན་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ལ། །

yidam khandro damchen gyatso la

And infinite deities, ḍākinīs and protectors:

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་ཟུང་འཇུག་སྐུ་ཐོབ་ཤོག །

solwa deb so zungjuk ku tob shok

To you I pray—may I attain the enlightened body of unity!

 

བརྒྱུད་གསུམ་བླ་མའི་བྱིན་རླབས་སྙིང་ལ་ཞུགས། །

gyü sum lamé jinlab nying la zhuk

May the blessings of gurus of the three lineages pour into my heart,

དབང་གིས་རྒྱུད་སྨིན་དམ་ཚིག་རྣམ་པར་དག །

wang gi gyü min damtsik nampar dak

My mind be matured through empowerment, and my samaya be completely pure.

རྡོ་རྗེ་གསུམ་གྱི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ལ་བརྩོན་པས། །

dorjé sum gyi naljor la tsönpé

May I diligently practise the yogas of vajra body, speech and mind,

སྐྱེ་འཆི་བར་དོ་རྩད་ནས་ཆོད་པར་ཤོག །

kyechi bardo tsené chöpar shok

And definitively resolve this life, death and the bardo state!

 

ཐབས་གྲོལ་གསང་ཆེན་ལམ་གྱི་ཟབ་གནད་མཐུས། །

tab drol sang chen lam gyi zab né tü

Through the power of the crucial points of the great secret paths of method and liberation,

གཞི་གནས་རིག་པ་སྐུ་གསུམ་རང་ཞལ་མཇལ། །

zhi né rigpa ku sum rang zhal jal

May I recognize the face of the three kāyas in awareness dwelling in the ground,

རྩ་ཐིག་རླུང་རྣམས་དྷཱུ་ཏིའི་དབྱིངས་སུ་འཆིངས། །

tsa tik lung nam dhuti ying su ching

Keep nāḍī, bindu and prāṇa within the space of the central channel,

འཁོར་འདས་ཆོས་དབྱིངས་ཆེན་པོར་ལྷུན་རྫོགས་ཤོག །

khordé chöying chenpor lhün dzok shok

And perfect saṃsāra and nirvāṇa spontaneously in the vastness of dharmadhātu!

 

རིག་པ་ཀ་དག་བརྡལ་ཁྱབ་ཆེན་པོའི་ཀློང་། །

rigpa kadak dal khyab chenpö long

When rigpa’s primordial purity pervades, vast and ever present,

ཡེ་ཤེས་རང་མདངས་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་རྒྱལ་པོའི་སྦུབས། །

yeshe rang dang lhündrub gyalpö bub

And wisdom’s radiance lights the inner space of kingly spontaneous perfection,

འབྲས་བུའི་རྒྱལ་པོས་བཙན་ས་ཟིན་པར་དང་། །

drebü gyalpö tsensa zinpar dang

May I attain fruition then, as a sovereign seizing the throne,

མཐའ་ཡས་འགྲོ་བ་འདྲེན་པ་བདག་གྱུར་ཅིག །

tayé drowa drenpa dak gyur chik

And serve as leader to limitless wandering beings.

 

ཟབ་ཆོས་བསྟན་པ་འཛམ་གླིང་ཡོངས་ལ་ཁྱབ། །

zab chö tenpa dzamling yong la khyab

May the Dharma’s profound teaching spread through the entire world,

མཁས་གྲུབ་བྱེ་བས་འཛིན་མའི་ཁྱོན་ཀུན་གང་། །

khedrub jewé dzinmé khyön kün gang

Millions of learned and realized beings fill the face of the earth,

ཕན་བདེའི་སྣང་བ་རིང་དུ་གནས་པ་དང་། །

pendé nangwa ring du nepa dang

Peace, happiness and altruism be experienced far and wide,

བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཉི་མ་རྟག་བརྟན་ཡུན་གནས་ཤོག །

tashi nyima takten yün né shok

And the sun of auspiciousness shine forever, steadfast and unchanging.

 

ཅེས་པའང་གཏེར་ཆེན་བླ་མ་ཉིད་ལས་ཆོས་འདིའི་བཀའ་དྲིན་ཐོབ་ཅིང་མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཀྱིས་སྤྲུལ་མིང་འཛིན་པ་འཇམ་དབྱངས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་པས་རྩེ་གཅིག་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་སིདྡྷི་རསྟུ།། །།

Having received the kindness of this teaching directly from the great treasure-revealing guru himself, Jamyang Chökyi Lodrö, who holds the title of the enlightened action emanation of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, made this single-minded prayer. Siddhir-astu!
