ན་མོ་མ་ཧཱ་མུ་དྲ་ཡེ།

Namo Mahāmudrāyai!¹

 

དུས་གསུམ་རྒྱལ་བ་ཀུན་གྱི་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད། །

dü sum gyalwa kün gyi ngowo nyi

You embody all Buddhas of past, present, and future;

བདེན་གཉིས་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་སྒོ་འབྱུང་བའི་གནས། །

den nyi dampé chögo jungwé né

You are a wellspring of the sacred Dharma that teaches the two truths;

འཕགས་ཚོགས་དགེ་འདུན་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་འདྲེན་པ་ཆེ། །

pak tsok gendün gyatsö drenpa ché

Great leader of the noble assembly, the oceanic Saṅgha—

དྲིན་ཆེན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མར་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

drinchen tsawé lamar solwa deb

Gracious root guru, I supplicate you!

དལ་འབྱོར་ཐོབ་ཀྱང་ཡུན་རིང་མི་རྟག་འཆི། །

daljor tob kyang yün ring mi tak chi

Though I have attained the freedoms and riches, these pass before long, and end in death.

ཤི་ཚེ་དཀར་ནག་ལས་འབྲས་བསླུ་མི་སྲིད། །

shi tsé karnak lé dré lu mi si

Upon death, there is no way to escape the good and bad deeds I have performed;

ཁམས་གསུམ་གང་དུ་སྐྱེས་ཀྱང་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དང་། །

kham sum gangdu kyé kyang dukngal dang

Wherever I am born within the three realms, there is nothing but suffering!

འཁོར་བའི་བཙོན་ལས་མྱུར་དུ་ཐར་བའི་ཕྱིར། །

khorwé tsön lé nyurdu tarwé chir

So I may swiftly gain freedom from this prison of saṃsāra,

སྒོ་གསུམ་དགེ་བའི་ལས་ལ་བཀོལ་བར་བྱ། །

go sum gewé lé la kolwar ja

I will apply my three gates of body, speech, and mind to virtuous action!

 

སྐྱབས་འགྲོ་ནི།

Taking Refuge

རང་མདུན་ནམ་མཁར་མཆོད་སྤྲིན་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་དབུས། །

rang dün namkhar chötrin gyatsö ü

In the sky before me, amid an ocean of offering clouds

གཞལ་མེད་ཁང་བཟང་དབུས་སུ་སེང་གེའི་ཁྲི། །

zhalmé khang zang ü su sengé tri

Is an immeasurable palace in which stand five lion thrones.

ལྔ་ཚོམ་དབུས་སུ་དྲིན་ཆེན་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་། །

nga tsom ü su drinchen dorjé chang

On the central throne sits gracious Vajradhara,

ཤར་དུ་ཡི་དམ་ལྷོ་རུ་ཤཱཀྱ་ཐུབ། །

shar du yidam lho ru shakya tub

On the eastern throne are the yidam deities, on the southern throne Buddha Śākyamuni,

ནུབ་ཏུ་དམ་ཆོས་བྱང་དུ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས། །

nub tu damchö jang du chenrezik

On the western throne the sacred Dharma, and on the northern throne Avalokiteśvara.

མདོར་ན་སྐྱབས་གནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་རྒྱ་མཚོ་རྣམས། །

dorna kyabné könchok gyatso nam

In brief, an ocean of precious objects of refuge

མཁའ་ལ་སྤྲིན་འཁྲིགས་བཞིན་དུ་གསལ་བའི་དབུས། །

kha la trin trik zhindu salwé ü

Is vividly present before me, like clouds billowing in the sky.

བདག་སོགས་མཁའ་མཉམ་འགྲོ་བ་མ་ལུས་པ། །

dak sok khanyam drowa malüpa

In their presence, I and all other beings without exception, in number infinite as space,

ལུས་ངག་ཡིད་གསུམ་གུས་པའི་སྐྱབས་སུ་འགྲོ། །

lü ngak yi sum güpé kyab su dro

Devotedly go for refuge with body, speech, and mind.

བཀའ་དྲིན་མཉམ་མེད་བླ་མ་དམ་པ་དང་། །

kadrin nyammé lama dampa dang

To the gracious guru, peerless and sublime;

ཡི་དམ་ལྷ་ཚོགས་སྟོན་མཆོག་སངས་རྒྱས་དང་། །

yidam lhatsok tön chok sangye dang

To the yidam deities; to Lord Buddha, the supreme teacher;

སྐྱོབ་པ་དམ་ཆོས་འདྲེན་པ་དགེ་འདུན་ཏེ། །

kyobpa damchö drenpa gendün té

To the sacred Dharma, our protector; and to the Saṅgha, our guide—

དཀོན་མཆོག་རིན་ཆེན་གསུམ་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆི། །

könchok rinchen sum la kyab su chi

To the Three Precious Ones, these rare jewels, we go for refuge.

ཞེས་གྲངས་བསགས།

Repeat these lines numerous times.

 

ལུས་ངག་ཡིད་གསུམ་གུས་པས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཞིང་། །

lü ngak yi sum güpé chaktsal zhing

I devotedly pay homage with body, speech, and mind.

ཕྱི་ནང་གསང་བའི་མཆོད་སྤྲིན་རྒྱ་མཚོས་མཆོད། །

chi nang sangwé chötrin gyatsö chö

I present you with vast clouds of offerings—outer, inner, and secret.

སྡིག་ལྟུང་ཀུན་བཤགས་དགེ་ལ་རྗེས་ཡི་རང་། །

diktung kün shak gé la jé yi rang

All misdeeds and downfalls I confess; in all virtue I rejoice.

ཆོས་འཁོར་བསྐོར་བཞིན་རྟག་ཏུ་བཞུགས་གསོལ་འདེབས། །

chökhor kor zhin taktu zhuk soldeb

Turning the wheel of Dharma, remain here forever, I pray!

དགེ་ཚོགས་ནམ་མཁའི་མཐའ་མཉམ་འགྲོ་ལ་བསྔོ། །

gé tsok namkhé ta nyam dro la ngo

All gatherings of virtue I dedicate to beings, infinite as space.

ཀུན་ཀྱང་མི་གནས་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཐོབ་པར་ཤོག །

kün kyang mi né changchub tobpar shok

May we all attain buddhahood beyond abiding!

མཁའ་མཉམ་འགྲོ་ཀུན་ཕ་མར་མ་གྱུར་མེད། །

khanyam dro kün pamar magyur mé

Each and every being, in number infinite as space, has been my parent in the past.

འདི་རྣམས་སངས་རྒྱས་གོ་འཕང་ཐོབ་བྱའི་ཕྱིར། །

dinam sangye gopang tob jé chir

So that they may all attain the state of awakening,

ཕར་ཕྱིན་དྲུག་དང་བསྡུ་དངོས་བཞི་ལ་སོགས། །

parchin druk dang du ngö zhi lasok

I will train in the six perfections, the four means of gathering, and more:

རྒྱལ་སྲས་སེམས་དཔའི་སྤྱོད་པར་བསླབ་པར་བགྱི། །

gyalsé sempé chöpar labpar gyi

The conduct of the spiritual warriors, the buddhas’ heirs.

འགྲོ་རྣམས་བདེ་ལྡན་སྡུག་བསྔལ་བྲལ་བ་དང་། །

dro nam deden dukngal dralwa dang

May all beings have happiness, may they be free from suffering,

འཕགས་པའི་བདེ་བ་ནམ་ཡང་མི་ཉམས་ཤིང་། །

pakpé dewa namyang mi nyam shing

May their exalted joy never decline,

ཀུན་ཀྱང་མཉམ་ཉིད་བཏང་སྙོམས་ལ་གནས་ཤོག །

kün kyang nyamnyi tangnyom la né shok

And may they abide in equanimity, the equal nature of all things.

སྐྱབས་ཡུལ་ཐམས་ཅད་འོད་ཞུ་བདག་གཞན་ལ། །

kyabyul tamché ö zhu dakzhen la

The objects of refuge melt into light and dissolve into myself and all others.

ཐིམ་པས་སྒྲིབ་བྱང་སངས་རྒྱས་ཐོབ་པར་གྱུར། །

timpé drib jang sangye tobpar gyur

Thus, our obscurations are cleansed and we attain buddhahood.

 

རྡོར་སེམས་བསྒོམ་བཟླས་ནི།

Visualization and Recitation of Vajrasattva

རང་གི་སྤྱི་བོར་བླ་མ་རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས། །

rang gi chiwor lama dorjé sem

Above my head sits Guru Vajrasattva,

དཀར་གསལ་རྡོ་རྗེ་དྲིལ་འཛིན་ལོངས་སྐུའི་ཆས། །

karsal dorjé dril dzin longkü ché

Radiant white, holding vajra and bell, in sambhogakāya attire.

ཐུགས་ཀར་ཟླ་སྟེང་ཧཱུྃ་ལ་ཡིག་བརྒྱས་བསྐོར། །

tukkar da teng hung la yikgyé kor

In his heart centre, upon a moon disc, stands hūṃ encircled by the hundred syllables,

བདུད་རྩིའི་རྒྱུན་བབ་སྤྱི་བོ་ནས་ཞུགས་ཏེ། །

dütsi gyün bab chiwo né zhuk té

From which a stream of amṛta descends and enters me through my crown,

རང་ལུས་ཀུན་གང་སྡིག་སྒྲིབ་ཉེས་ལྟུང་རིགས། །

rang lü kün gang dikdrib nyetung rik

Filling my body completely. All misdeeds, obscurations, and downfalls exit

བ་སྤུའི་ཁུང་དང་འོག་སྒོ་ནས་ཐོན་ཏེ། །

bapü khung dang okgo né tön té

From my pores and flush out of my lower orifices.

རང་ལུས་སྟོང་གསལ་དྲི་མེད་ཤེལ་ལྟར་གྱུར། །

rang lü tong sal drimé shel tar gyur

My body becomes empty and clear, like a pristine crystal.

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་སཏཱ་ས་མ་ཡ་སོགས།

om bendza sato samaya, manu palaya, bendza sato tenopa, tishta dridho mé bhava, sutoyo mé bhava, supoyo mé bhava, anurakto mé bhava, sarva siddhi mé prayatsa, sarva karma sutsamé, tsittam shri yam kuru hung, ha ha ha ha ho, bhagavan sarva tathagata bendza ma mé muntsa, bendzi bhava maha samaya sato a

oṃ vajrasattva samayam | anupālaya | vajrasattvatvenopatiṣṭha | dṛdho me bhava | sutoṣyo me bhava | supoṣyo me bhava | anurakto me bhava | sarva-siddhiṃ me prayaccha | sarva-karmasu ca me | cittaṃ śreyaṃ kuru hūṃ | ha ha ha ha hoḥ | bhagavān sarva-tathāgata-vajra ma me muñca | vajrī bhava mahāsamaya sattva āḥ ||

 

མགོན་པོ་བདག་ནི་མི་ཤེས་རྨོངས་པ་ཡིས། །

gönpo dak ni mi shé mongpa yi

Protector, due to my ignorance and lack of understanding,

དམ་ཚིག་ལས་ནི་འགལ་ཞིང་ཉམས། །

damtsik lé ni gal zhing nyam

I have transgressed and violated my samayas.

བླ་མ་མགོན་པོས་སྐྱབས་མཛོད་ཅིག །

lama gönpö kyab dzö chik

Guru and protector, please grant me refuge!

གཙོ་བོ་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཛིན་པ་སྟེ། །

tsowo dorjé dzinpa té

Sovereign vajra holder,

ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེན་པོའི་བདག་ཉིད་ཅན། །

tukjé chenpö daknyi chen

Lord of great compassion,

འགྲོ་བའི་གཙོ་ལ་བདག་སྐྱབས་མཆི། །

drowé tso la dak kyab chi

King of beings, in you I take refuge.

རྡོར་སེམས་འཛུམ་བཅས་སྡིག་སྒྲིབ་དག་པ་ཡི། །

dorsem dzum ché dikdrib dakpa yi

Vajrasattva smiles and absolves me

གནང་བ་རྩལ་ཏེ་རང་ཐིམ་སྤྲོས་པ་བྲལ། །

nangwa tsal té rang tim tröpadral

Of all my misdeeds and obscurations, then dissolves into me—simplicity.

 

Maṇḍala Offering

མཎྜལ་ཚོམ་བུ་སོ་བདུན་མའི་ཐོག་དྲངས།

First, offer the thirty-seven point maṇḍala offering:²

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་བྷུ་མི་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།

om benza bhumi ah hung

oṃ vajrabhūmi āḥ hūṃ |

གཞི་ཡོངས་སུ་དག་པ་དབང་ཆེན་གསེར་གྱི་ས་གཞི།

zhi yongsu dakpa wangchen ser gyi sa zhi

The earth is the golden ground, completely pure, full of beauty and power.

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་རེ་ཁེ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།

om benza rekhé ah hung

oṃ vajra-rekhe āḥ hūṃ |

ཕྱི་ལྕགས་རི་ཁོར་ཡུག་གིས་བསྐོར་བའི་དབུས་སུ་ཧཱུྃ།

chi chakri khoryuk gi korwé ü su hung

The circular iron mountain wall completely surrounds it; in the centre is the letter hūṃ—

རིའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་རི་རབ།

ri gyalpo rirab

Meru, the king of mountains;

ཤར་ལུས་འཕགས་པོ། ལྷོ་འཛམ་བུ་གླིང༌།

shar lüpakpo lho dzambuling

In the East is Pūrvavideha, in the South is Jambudvīpa,

ནུབ་བ་ལང་སྤྱོད། བྱང་སྒྲ་མི་སྙན།

nub balangchö jang draminyen

In the West is Aparagodānīya, in the North is Uttarakuru.

ལུས་དང་ལུས་འཕགས། རྔ་ཡབ་དང་རྔ་ཡབ་གཞན།

lü dang lüpak ngayab dang ngayab zhen

Beside them are Deha and Videha, Cāmara and Aparacāmara,

གཡོ་ལྡན་དང་ལམ་མཆོག་འགྲོ།

yoden dang lamchok dro

Śāthā and Uttaramantriṇa,

སྒྲ་མི་སྙན་དང་སྒྲ་མི་སྙན་གྱི་ཟླ།

draminyen dang draminyen gyi da

Kurava and Kaurava.

རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་རི་བོ། དཔག་བསམ་གྱི་ཤིང༌།

rinpoche riwo paksam gyi shing

The jewel mountain, the wish-fulfilling trees,

འདོད་འཇོའི་བ། མ་རྨོས་པའི་ལོ་ཏོག།

döjöba mamöpé lotok

The wish-fulfilling cows, the harvest which needs no sowing,

འཁོར་ལོ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། ནོར་བུ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།

khorlo rinpoche norbu rinpoche

The precious wheel, the precious gem,

བཙུན་མོ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། བློན་པོ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།

tsünmo rinpoche lönpo rinpoche

The precious queen, the precious minister,

གླང་པོ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། རྟ་མཆོག་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།

langpo rinpoche tachok rinpoche

The precious elephant, the precious horse,

དམག་དཔོན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། གཏེར་ཆེན་པོའི་བུམ་པ།

makpön rinpoche ter chenpö bumpa

The precious general, the vase of great treasure,

སྒེག་པ་མ། ཕྲེང་བ་མ།

gekpama trengwama

The goddess of beauty, the goddess of garlands,

གླུ་མ། གར་མ།

luma garma

The goddess of song, the goddess of dance,

མེ་ཏོག་མ། བདུག་སྤོས་མ།

metokma dukpöma

The goddess of flowers, the goddess of incense,

སྣང་གསལ་མ། དྲི་ཆབ་མ།

nangsalma drichabma

The goddess of light, the goddess of perfume,

ཉི་མ། ཟླ་བ། རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་གདུགས།

nyima dawa rinpoche duk

The sun, the moon, the precious umbrella,

ཕྱོགས་ལས་རྣམ་པར་རྒྱལ་བའི་རྒྱལ་མཚན།

chok lé nampar gyalwé gyaltsen

The royal banner victorious in all directions:

ལྷ་དང་མིའི་དཔལ་འབྱོར་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་མ་ཚང་བ་མེད་པ་

lha dang mi paljor pünsum tsokpa matsangwa mepa

There is all the bountiful wealth of gods and men, complete and flawless—

འདི་ཉིད་

di nyi

All this:

ཡོན་དུ་འབུལ་བར་བགྱིའོ། །

yön du bulwar gyi o

I offer—

ཐུགས་རྗེས་འགྲོ་བའི་དོན་དུ་བཞེས་སུ་གསོལ།

tukjé drowé döndu zhé su sol

Please accept it, with compassion, for the benefit of beings.

བཞེས་ནས་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབ་ཏུ་གསོལ།

zhé né jingyi lab tu sol

Having accepted it, please grant your blessing!

 

ས་གཞི་སྤོས་ཆུས་བྱུགས་ཤིང་མེ་ཏོག་བཀྲམ། །

sa zhi pö chü juk shing métok tram

The earth is perfumed with scented water and strewn with flowers;

རི་རབ་གླིང་བཞི་ཉི་ཟླས་བརྒྱན་པ་འདི། །

rirap ling zhi nyi dé gyenpa di

it is adorned with Mount Meru, the four continents, the sun, and the moon.

སངས་རྒྱས་ཞིང་དུ་དམིགས་ཏེ་ཕུལ་བ་ཡིས། །

sangyé zhing du mik té pulwa yi

Imagining it all as the realm of the buddhas,

འགྲོ་ཀུན་རྣམ་དག་ཞིང་ལ་སྤྱོད་པར་ཤོག །

dro kun namdak zhing la chöpar shok

I offer it, a pure realm for all beings to enjoy!

ཨི་དམ་རཏྣ་མཎྜལ་ཀཾ་ནིརྱཱ་ཏ་ཡཱ་མི།

idam ratna mandela kam nirya taya mi

idam ratna-maṇḍala-kam nirya tayāmi

ཅེས་ཚོམ་བུ་བདུན་མ་འབུལ།

With that, offer the seven-point maṇḍala.³

 

བླ་མའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ནི།

Guru Yoga

རང་ལུས་གདོས་བཅས་དངོས་འཛིན་མི་དམིགས་པ། །

rang lü dö ché ngödzin mimik pa

I observe my body not as solid, real, or concrete:

སྣང་སྟོང་དྲྭ་བ་སྡོམ་པར་གསལ་བ་ཡི། །

nangtong drawa dompar salwa yi

It is vividly present as the unified net of empty-appearance.

སྤྱི་བོའི་གཙུག་ཏུ་སེང་ཁྲི་པད་ཟླའི་སྟེང་། །

chiwö tsuk tu sengtri pé dé teng

Above my head, upon a lion throne, lotus, and moon disc,

བཀའ་དྲིན་འཁོར་མེད་དྲིན་ཆེན་བླ་མ་ནི། །

kadrin khormé drinchen lama ni

Sits the gracious guru, of kindness impossible to repay.

རྣམ་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་གི་ཆ་ལུགས་ཅན། །

nampa dorjé chang gi chaluk chen

In the form of Vajradhara, whose attire he wears,

བཀའ་བརྒྱུད་གྲུབ་ཐོབ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་དབུས་ན་བཞུགས། །

kagyü drubtob gyatsö ü na zhuk

He presides in the midst of an ocean of great Kagyü adepts.

སྲིད་ཞི་ཀུན་གྱི་སྤྱི་དཔལ་ཆེན་པོར་བསམ། །

sizhi kün gyi chi pal chenpor sam

I imagine him thus, as the glory and splendor of both existence and peace.

གུས་པས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་མཆོད་ཅིང་སྡིག་པ་བཤགས། །

güpé chaktsal chö ching dikpa shak

With devotion I prostrate, make offerings, and confess misdeeds.

དགེ་ལ་ཡི་རང་ཆོས་འཁོར་བསྐོར་བར་བསྐུལ། །

gé la yi rang chökhor korwar kul

I rejoice in virtue, beseech you to turn the wheel of Dharma

རྟག་པར་བཞུགས་གསོལ་དགེ་རྩ་འགྲོ་ལ་བསྔོ། །

takpar zhuk sol getsa dro la ngo

And to remain forever. These roots of virtue, I dedicate to beings.

ཀུན་ཀྱང་དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མ་འགྲུབ་གྱུར་ཅིག །

kün kyang palden lama drub gyur chik

May we all accomplish the glorious guru!

ཅེས་དང་། །

Recite that, and then say:

 

མ་ནམ་མཁའ་དང་མཉམ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་བླ་མ་སངས་རྒྱས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ། །

ma namkha dang nyampé semchen tamché lama sangye rinpoche la solwa deb so

All mother beings, equal in number to the infinity of space, pray to the guru, the precious buddha.

མ་ནམ་མཁའ་དང་མཉམ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་བླ་མ་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ། །

ma namkha dang nyampé semchen tamché lama künkhyab chö kyi ku la solwa deb so

All mother beings, equal in number to the infinity of space, pray to the guru, the all-pervading dharmakāya.

མ་ནམ་མཁའ་དང་མཉམ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་བླ་མ་བདེ་ཆེན་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པའི་སྐུ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ། །

ma namkha dang nyampé semchen tamché lama dechen longchö dzokpé ku la solwa deb so

All mother beings, equal in number to the infinity of space, pray to the guru, the sambhogakāya of great bliss.

མ་ནམ་མཁའ་དང་མཉམ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་བླ་མ་ཐུགས་རྗེ་སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྐུ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ། །

ma namkha dang nyampé semchen tamché lama tukjé trulpé ku la solwa deb so

All mother beings, equal in number to the infinity of space, pray to the guru, the compassionate nirmāṇakāya.

གྲངས་མེད་བརྗོད།

Accumulate that as many times as possible.⁴

 

རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་ཆེན་བློ་གྲོས་རིན་ཆེན་ཞབས། །

dorjé chang chen lodrö rinchen zhab

To Lodrö Rinchen Vajradhara;

བདེ་བའི་མགོན་པོ་འཕགས་མཆོག་ཀླུ་སྒྲུབ་ཞབས། །

dewé gönpo pakchok ludrub zhab

Exalted Nāgārjuna, Guardian of Bliss;

ས་ར་ཧ་པ་མངའ་བདག་མེ་ཏྲི་པ། །

sara hapa ngadak mé tripa

Adept Saraha; sovereign lord Maitripa;

མར་པ་ལོ་ཙཱ་བཞད་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ་དང་། །

marpa lo tsa zhepa dorjé dang

Translator Marpa; Laughing Vajra;⁵

དྭགས་པོ་ལྷ་རྗེ་འགྲོ་མགོན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ། །

Physician Dakpo,⁶ precious protector of beings;

ཁམས་གསུམ་འགྲོ་བའི་བླ་མ་སྟག་ལུང་པ། །

kham sum drowé lama taklungpa

Taklung Tangpa, guru of beings in all three realms:

ཡར་མར་དོན་བརྒྱུད་གསེར་རིའི་ཕྲེང་བ་ཡི། །

yar mar dön gyü ser ri trengwa yi

To the golden garland of gurus of the upper and lower⁷ ultimate lineages,

མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་ནུས་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་གཅིག་བསྡུས་པ། །

khyen tsé nü pé yeshe chikdü pa

And to you, my magnificent root guru, who completely embodies all

བདག་སོགས་མོས་ངོར་སྣང་བའི་སྐྱབས་གཅིག་པུ། །

dak sok mö ngor nangwé kyab chikpu

Of their wisdom of knowledge, compassion, and power,

དཔལ་ལྡན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མར་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

palden tsawé lamar solwa deb

And appears to those of us with faith—to you, our sole refuge, I pray!

 

སྔོན་འགྲོའི་རྒྱུད་སྦྱངས་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་གཉིས་འབྱོངས། །

ngöndrö gyü jang changchub sem nyi jong

My being has been purified through the preliminaries, and I have trained in the two types of bodhicitta.

བླ་མའི་བྱིན་རླབས་སྒོ་གསུམ་ཐིག་ལེར་ཞུགས། །

lamé jinlab go sum tikler zhuk

The gurus’ blessings have suffused the bindus of my three gates.

ཞི་གནས་གཞི་བཟུང་ལྷག་མཐོང་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན། །

zhiné zhi zung lhaktong ting ngé dzin

Through the samādhi of clear insight laid upon the ground of calm abiding,

མ་བཅོས་སྤྲོས་བྲལ་གཉུག་མའི་རང་ཞལ་མཐོང་། །

machö trödral nyukmé rang zhal tong

The true face of the innate natural state, uncontrived simplicity is directly seen.

རང་གྲོལ་དྭགས་པོ་བཀའ་བརྒྱུད་འགྲུབ་གྱུར་ཅིག །

rangdrol dakpo kagyü drub gyur chik

May I accomplish the Dakpo Kagyü of self-liberation!

 

གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པའི་བླ་མའི་གནས་བཞི་ཡི། །

solwa tabpé lamé nezhi yi

From the four vajras of the four places of the thus-invoked gracious guru

རྡོ་རྗེ་བཞི་ལས་འོད་ཟེར་དཀར་དམར་མཐིང་། །

dorjé zhi lé özer kar mar ting

White, red, blue, and yellow light rays

སེར་པོའི་ཚོགས་བྱུང་རང་གི་གནས་བཞིར་ཐིམ། །

serpö tsok jung rang gi nezhir tim

Stream out and dissolve into my four places,

སྒྲིབ་པ་བཞི་དག་དབང་ཐོབ་སྐུ་བཞི་བཞག །

dribpa zhi dak wang tob ku zhi zhak

So the four obscurations are purified, the four empowerments obtained, and the four kāyas planted within.

 

བླ་མ་འོད་ཞུ་རང་དང་དབྱེར་མེད་འདྲེས། །

lama ö zhu rang dang yermé dré

The guru melts into light and fully merges with me.

 

གསང་བ་གསུམ་དང་དབྱེར་མེད་རོ་གཅིག་ངང་། །

sangwa sum dang yermé ro chik ngang

In the continuum of equal taste inseparable from the three secrets,

འོད་གསལ་ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོའི་ངང་དུ་བཞག །

ösal chakgya chenpö ngang du zhak

I let be in the state of unceasing luminosity, the Great Seal.

ཅེས་མཉམ་པར་བཞག

With that, rest in equipoise.

 

དགེ་བ་འདི་ཡིས་མྱུར་དུ་བདག །

gewa di yi nyurdu dak

Through this virtue, having swiftly accomplished

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མ་འགྲུབ་འགྱུར་ནས། །

palden lama drub gyur né

The state of the Glorious Guru,

འགྲོ་བ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མ་ལུས་པ། །

drowa chik kyang malüpa

May I establish all wandering beings,

དེ་ཡི་ས་ལ་འགོད་པར་ཤོག །

dé yi sa la göpar shok

Without a single exception, at that very level.

 

ཞེས་པའང་དད་ལྡན་ཐུབ་བསྟན་དཔལ་འབར་ནས་བསྐུལ་ངོར། ཕྲིན་ལས་བྱམས་པའི་འབྱུང་གནས་ཀྱིས་སེང་གླིང་རྡོ་རྗེ་རྫོང་གི་དབེན་གནས་སུ་བྲིས་པ་དགེའོ།། །།
