Eric Gu began studying Buddhism in the Chinese tradition in 1995. Ten years later, he encountered the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism with several teachers from Larung Gar, including Khenpo Yeshe Phuntsok, Khenpo Sodargye and Khenpo Tsultrim Lodrö. Since 2009 he has focused on the study and practice of Dzogchen as a student of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche.
